North Stand Construction Discussion

Even clubs in their own groups are getting a blue-wall look at NYCFC blue wall , I bet there is no GA+ section in the middle of that

A) what do you think GA+ looks like, fuds in fur coats inside a goldfish bowl waving about packets of m&s truffle and proseco handcooked crisps?

B) there very much is a premium section, bang in the middle of that, where it cuts the N in half. They even have super premium there, where 6-10 people can book their own private bar for extra, as below.

@Coatigan can you please link to the document which has all the fantastic isometric views? (As detailed on page 188 of your previous reply)
I've trawled through all the planning documents on the Manchester City Council planning portal but can't find it anywhere.

It is the main design document that most of the shares here have been taken out of over the course of the thread.

Try this, although in the past linking documents directly did not always work

alternatively, go into the applicstion itself, the design document is about two thirds of the way down the list.

You might need to refresh once you paste the link.

I'm talking about the perimeter around the outside of the North stand, it was chokka behind the stage with fans trying to walk through in opposite directions before and after the game and when they build the tunnel it's going to be a nightmare.

Just a follow-up to this, if it helps. Below before and after with the circular path highlighted In darker grey, and general open space in lighter grey.

The space lost, is the extended stand itself, highlighted in light red. Which is similar to what was lost with the south stand extension.

But thay circular path itself remains unchanged, and the open space to the north of that between the two claws is actually bigger than before around the stage. The linking elements are above the path, shown in blue dots.1000030007.jpg

Here’s how you have to dress to get in 93:20

On my way into the ground on Saturday I heard a couple of Spurs fans taking the piss out of the spiral staircase entrances. Personally I love the design of the Etihad, but it did get me thinking, from an objective point of view could the spirals be improved upon?

They didn't age very well and quickly became dirty and weatherbeaten. The club did something about that by putting banners up over them, which I can understand some may think looks a bit cheap or naff.

Interested in other people's thoughts and any potential constructive ideas for how might get them up to the standard of the rest of the ground?

While I'm no expert where civil engineering is concerned, I suspect that the spiral staircases are not only a means of access and egress but vital to the structural integrity of the build. If so, they're a permanent fixture. Even if I'm way off the mark, I can't see the club investing heavily simply in an attempt to improve the stadium's visual impact. I completely agree though that the aesthetics of the stadium leave a lot to be desired. Perhaps the way to go would be a colourful 'wrap' with a view to escaping the drab 1970's car park chic look. Joking aside though, I still believe it holds up well in comparison to the vast majority of football stadia.

Led wrap them, moving adverts, would look really good and another cash generator.

Good points mate and I agree with your point about how it holds up. Just think it's a bit of a shame if the spirals are letting it down when there's so much investment going on in making the campus world class.

I'm honestly starting to believe this guy is on the fuckin wind-up, every post is how much better every other fuckin stadium around the world do things to ours.

They are yes. I quite like them and the aesthetic. I think it is iconic in its own right, both visually and as a structural concept.

I don't like the idea of a whole stadium wrap. But the spirals getting a facelift of some sort, no issue with. Don't think much is needed, and they will divide opinion amongs blues as much as rival fans, so not fussed about what spurs fans might think of it.
