North Stand Construction Discussion

Have there been any discussions about what the North stand will be called when it is finished?

Not that anyone knows about.

I think the general consensus, but not every City, would be to name the new home end after Pep before he leaves or before his last home game at the Etihad, as a fitting tribute to his successful managerial legacy as City manager.

Personally I think that is a bad idea. The reason being is I think every manager at the swamp looks up at the GPC stand and is intimidated by their most successful managers name right in front of them when they are in the dugout. They know they will not be there that long, they know they will never be as sucessful, they know it reminds the fans of their glory days and intimidates them into being nervous wrecks. Give Pep a statue by all means, leave his name in lights outside the ground, but don't name a stand after our most successful manager, to act as a reminder to future managers who and what they are following.

It's all about opinions. Yours is a valid opinion.

As far as I'm concerned Pep deserves more than just a statue. We already have enough statues of players. That's not to say Pep shouldn't get a statue as well.

What Pep has done for this club surpasses anything any other manager has done for this club, that includes the great Joe Mercer. Pep's achievements and legacy as City's manager will never be matched or bettered by another City manager

It might only be me, but I think naming the new North stand home end after Pep is a fitting tribute to him and what he has achieved as City's greatest ever manager.

I can imagine him standing in front of the new North stand after he has taken his final and farewell walk around the pitch, looking up at the 1000's of City fans chanting his name, knowing the new North stand has been named after him.

I'm 100% sure the club will do the right thing to honor Pep Guardiola, City's greatest ever manager.

Back to topic for the last time before Jim temporarily bans me from posting on the thread. :-(

From the SS Skies video.

Don’t think the screens (old vs new) are too dissimilar in size.

I know there was a poster here a couple of weeks ago who was really angry the screens might not be the same size.

Did a rough estimate based on the north stand screen being roughly half way across each seating block below with the exit being in the middle.

Clearer look at the new screen

I don't think the rags being shite is anything to do with their manager's being intimidated by the GPC stand.

Anfield has the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand and he won plenty as a player and a manager there.

I'm with jrb on this - I think it has to have Pep's name on it personally. For what he's achieved with us, for his stature in the game it's a no brainer. A statue wouldn't be enough on its own.
