North Stand Construction Discussion

I just read that Arsenal are planning to extend capacity by 10k and maybe use Wembley whilst the work takes place. The London bubble will burst one day. Meanwhile make sure you fill the Etihad with as many locals as possible and then there may be further expansions at some stage.
The football bubble is amazing at all levels. Huge crowds at lower league matches as well. Perhaps it will burst but I think it is about people living in a tech world yet still want the human experience of live sport. Music gigs are also huge these days.

Just thinking back about music gigs Bobby - Led Zep and The Who etc at the Free Trade Hall haha
Can you imagine where they would have to play with today's crowds!

Absolutely spot-on sentiment but seemingly not something the club agrees with.

Get rid of prohibitive memberships, make kids tickets a tenner, and partner with Greater Manchester schools (never mind those in Dundee).

Saw them both. Bloody fantastic live. It is all about live music these days. The Who at Belle Vue. The best gig I saw.
I saw Led Zep twice in a week, Belle Vue and the FTH

The Who were the best for me saw them many times

Tony Whelan ex City and United was my concert going mate at the time and he stood on the Kippax with me, really good days

I thought that perhaps City might re-open the back 2 rows of the North Stand that were closed due to the construction work. That could be around 300 seats. That's > 100k in revenue, and it would take our attendances back to ~53k. Perhaps the costs of doing this make it uneconomical.

Arsenal can just put in standard size seats and more steps for the seats, that would be a significant boost and could be done incrementally without much disturbance. You get about twice as much space per seat at the emirates compared to some grounds.

I' rather City didn't expand further, it will make it harder for fans to get to and could end up an albino snuffleupagus.

all sorts of contractual/insurance/safety issues (delete as appropriate), would be my guess.

I'd agree you wont see them back in action until the stand fully opens above them. As I've said elsewhere, if you're looking for a few hundred more seats, find away to put extend the 3rd tier sides towards the screens like City did next to the south stand 3rd tier extension

What do people think of the widening of the distance between the seats before they get to the exits, as opposed to keeping the distance the same between the seats before they get to the exits.

Apologies for the poor screen grab.
