North Stand Construction Discussion

They removed the badge to 'open up views' on the sky bar. Then sealed off any semblance of a view with clustered booths and an ikea internal layout
Who would want to look at the coop arena when they are spending vast amounts on overpriced food & drinks just so they can post pics on Instagram:)

There are lots of people come on here and complain about the build only to be proven wrong, but do they come on and say they were mistaken, no they the just pick holes in something else or what somebody has said.

What specifically did people complain about? Below. Nobody ever questioned City’s desire to expand the North stand. And to make it a bigger match day revenue generating stand. We all know how City work. That was the primary goal for expanding the North stand. What some of us wanted was a more atmosphere generating stand. There’s nothing wrong with wanting that. That isn’t complaining. Regardless of what City eventually came up with, the expanded North stand, along with the Etihad stadium, the Coop Live Arena, and the Etihad Campus is a huge success for the club and for East Manchester. Nobody has ever complained about that. We’ve all thanked Sheikh Mansour for the investment he has put into the club and into East Manchester ever since he bought the club in 2008.

Complaints.

The Hotel dog leg.
The brickwork.
The priority on revenue over atmosphere.
Etc?

I said the brickwork was a mess. It still is a bloody mess.
Can everyone just not say brickwork.

Just think the sector is struggling and it’ll be a hard sell to get regular clientele up there several times a week. My guess it will end up closing and the club will just run it in-house as they do all the other hospitality.

I don't think these types of places really need or rely on regular clientele. If it does 'struggle', another of its kind will take its place. The club will make money of letting the space out, not on the turnover of food and drinks. Imo.

But as a space, agree, the flexibility and positioning is ideal for that as an alternative should it be needed.

Edit. Guess that's the one thing about removing the badge, makes it easier to get various tenants in. Perhaps if what you say does happen, they might get the badge back on it.

yes hotel guests will have options for sure but even if 10% choose up market dining it will do ok for footfall. Luxury dining is a notoriously difficult thing to make work though so lets see.
As Pep and Soriano found out at Tast, which was located in the heart of the city centre.

On the plus side, Zadie, if it is own by the club, won’t have to pay any rent for the premises. Or will they?

Zadie reminds me of Chotto Matte, which opened last year at St Michael’s.

The brickwork around the 2nd claw is definitely much better looking, and much better pointed than the brickwork around the hotel. It’s like two different companies did it. I specifically looked at both. There is a visible difference in my brickwork expertise opinion. :-)

You’ll be surprised at the amount events and conferences held at the Etihad stadium during the week. Linkedin has loads of posts and pictures from people at the events and conferences.
Not many people really know about them. Add the match days, Coop Live Arena events, Mamma Mia, and what’s propose for the Collar site in the future, etc. I honestly think the hotel, Zadie’s, etc, are going to do really well.

From a position of knowing nothing, I'd have thought the restaurant owners will pay City a lease on the premises and making it profitable is down to the restaurant owners ,not City.
