North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

I'm probably missing the point, but what difference does it make where the new season tickets are? If they'd guaranteed 4000 in the new stand but none in the rest of the ground, would you be happier? And if so, why?
The impression given over the last 12 months is that flexi-Golders on here go to more games (on average) than season card holders. Maybe that’s just the wrong impression that’s been given.

I think the extra flexibility of having the 4k around the ground, including 2k plus juniors is a positive.

I can see why several posters are disappointed by the lack of a Blue wall but we’ve known about that for well over a year. Yes it’s shortsighted.

I’m new to this (sitting in a pub in the Lake District) but having a quick scan read they aren’t even promoting this as an atmosphere end/New Kippax, or whatever.

They’ve got to push this. They’ve got to make it happen. Sell it to the right fans. This is a one off chance to change things forever. They blew the chance once before and there will not be another one.

Get the singers in the new tier. Incentivise them. God, don’t fuck this up or we will forever be seen as the empty seats/no atmosphere/glory hunter club which we all know we are NOT.

The New North Stand should have been our Kop, Holte End, and Gollowgate, and should have been our answer to the Yellow Wall, but no Blue Wall. @HelloCity is right in his description.

The easy solution for the corporate seating area is to make the sky bar area bigger and have seats up there that have access to the Sky Bar instead of the GA+ section in the middle. This would be a better solution for everyone.

The images look very similar to NYCFC

What corporate seating area would that be then?

No point in them moving from South Stand level 1 really. Not sure what the benefits to the atmosphere would be?

It's a section right at the very back of the stand with the rest of the stand being made up of the family stand, GA+ seats, and some standard seats in the middle.
This is the problem: the acoustics do not work at the moment at all because of the setup of the stadium.

If you are in the family stand, all you can hear is the away fans singing.

The lower South Stand and Kippax corner need to move into the lower section of the North Stand; just look at Bayern Munich, Liverpool, etc., to see where all their most vocal fans are behind the goal, not in a corner.

The new North Stand needs to be our home end, not a family stand or anything else

How can one club get it so right on the pitch, but when it comes to the stadium, mess it all up

I've just seen this posted.

I have moved 4 times in the Etihad Stadium.

1) When 215 was made corporate, I moved from 216
2) The front rows in 105 were moved
3) Then I moved to 305 as the price discount on my seat in 105 ran out
4) Back down to 105 as it was too quiet for my liking

Just move with friends and family if you need to.

That was kinda my point. If we're looking for a blue wall, then it's going to come from existing card holders moving, not from 4000 'new' cards

Is there any evidence of that?

Nobody knows what the real attendance figures are for regular season ticket and Flexi Gold season ticket holders, apart from the club.

It’s not nice to have to move seats but those affected have been offered two years in better seats for the price of their existing season cards.

If people want to jack in their season cards on that basis then fair enough. I’ve been forced to move twice and it’s worked out for the best.
hopefully they keep full season ticket and not a flexi ticket

It’s certainly a lot less than I expected, and a lot less GA+/corporate than I envisaged a few years ago, the club could’ve gone 3 tier with the new NS and flipped Level1 (2) into more corporate, in line with the rest of the stadium (club Wembley style) I don’t have to move but I will be, so I’m not affected, and can totally understand people’s frustrations, but I just believe people should think more about what it could be than what it’s not

It’s a guesstimate based on comments on here. Flexi-Golders enjoyed going to a minimum of 10 Prem games. A lot of season card holders gave the impression that attending 10 games was like climbing Everest.

It may well be different amongst the wider fanbase.

6,000 rail seats + engagement with 1894 + explicit communications that this is a singing end = better atmosphere = bigger demand elsewhere in the ground from day trippers and other occasional match-goers who want to experience it without wanting to play an active part

This will be the latest lazy excuse our apathetic fans have for the flat atmosphere they continue to create. Currently it's the "acoustics " that stop us having an atmosphere (except it doesn't when we can be arsed), over the next few years it will be because " city didn't let us have a blue wall".

I can't say I've ever come to that conclusion reading the comments, but fair enough, if that's what you think.

I still don't understand, and I'm sure other City fans don't understand either, why the club doesn't make normal season tickets available instead of Flexi-Gold season tickets.

Bar the upfront payment, and the chance to resell the seat as a match day seat if the person forgets to buy the match ticket in time.

i liked that one all north stand can hear is away fans ? same accustics just more pissed because of travel arrangments allow drinking time

If they’ve got a season card and turn up regularly they will do. Let’s not beat about the bush. The main advantage of a season card over a flexi
Is to shift tickets for games fabs are not going to. We don’t create a Blue Wall if the priority is to favour fans who don’t attend regularly.

A blue Wall, if you want to call it that, would have made a difference to the future atmosphere inside the Etihad.

Improving the atmosphere Inside the Etihad was pushed by the fans. The club know that. The club pushed back on it and decided to go for match day revenue instead as the priority.
