North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

3000 apparently? ‘At the back of the stand’.With 5000 fans sat down in-front.
Plus the option for more, so i would say that's a big chunk of the new stand handed over to people who want to stand and sing...BUT if fans don't want to move that's our fault as a fan base, no one else, and if it does end up like any other stand rather than OUR end then shame on us fans...

The letters were issued the close season when there was a big expansion in the number of padded seats in East Stand Level 2
I moved to 228 in 2011. I asked people next to me why I was able to get such a seat. They said they had been written to advising of changes in the future.( May have been in 2010). Joe's is coming as the equivalent block the other side of the directors box is a Joe's.
They have been putting in new suites and bars every summer for the last ten years it seems.

City's info says the option for increasing the rail seating area will depend on the demand ahead of the stand opening so it is a fixed rather than flexible deadline and I think it would be quite difficult to demonstrate irrefutably beforehand that there is this extra demand. Presumably it would all be decided on the demand from existing season ticketholders who wish to relocate rather than waiting to see what any new flexi gold ticket holders would want.

IMO, at best, it will be priced the same as SSL1 and so very few seasonticketholders from SSL3 would be looking to move.

From reading this thread 1894 submitted a survey which indicated there was high demand for rail standing tickets and yet the baseline figure of 3,000 rail seats was chosen.

I think the key, then, is whether there are many seasonticketholders who sit in blocks that don't really sing who want to move to the rail seating. If 1894 don't move then such seasonticketholders would be the main contributors to what would be effectively a new singing area at the back of the North Stand and if 1894 do decide to move then these seasonticketholders, who now wish to stand, could convince City there is sufficient demand to increase the rail seating from 3,000.

We are delighted to reveal the seating configuration for the expansion of the North Stand at the Etihad Stadium, which will open during the 2025/26 season...

During these discussions, it was clear that fans share our view on the importance of adding rail seating to the expanded North Stand. As such, the Club will introduce a minimum of 3,000 rail seats as part of the expansion, with the option of increasing this allocation ahead of opening should there be further demand.

Just had a thought. City will surely be putting a cap on the numbers relocating. What if that cap is 3000 or less but 6,000 say they want to relocate?

Given some of the stunts the club have pulled of late, I’m not convinced that they have any serious intention of increasing that 3000 figure even if demand far outstrips that figure. Happy to be proven wrong of course.

Demand must force the clubs hand.....5000 (say) applications for safe standing must be satisfied and honoured by the club.

Frankly if we can't fill 5000 ss seats in our new atmosphere end something is up with the pricing conditions or communications.

Get the indicative information communicated ASAP please City.

We will never know if more than 3000 people want to relocate to the proposed NSL2 safe standing section because the club won't release that information.

If the club keeps to it's word and expands the safe standing section over 3000, that starts expanding into the central 'seated areas', which starts eating into more expensive tickets, and starts eating into the NSL2 match day revenue. I can't see the club allowing that to happen.

I think the club will stop at 3000 safe standing seats, regardless if there is more demand from the fans for safe standing seats on NSL2.

We will lucky to get 300 moving if its anything like the apathy on here...

It depends on what the club want from the extended stand.
If they really want it to be the "atmosphere end" then they need regulars who are willing to make a noise and 6,000 would be great. If they just want a load of additional seats to sell to tourists and regular Blues who don't want to commit to STs then they might limit migration.
Also, if long-term plans include screwing those in East and CB level 2, then they might as well let them migrate now while they have a choice of decent seats.

Dear

Manchester City Football Club is exploring options to expand the Etihad Stadium.

The vast majority of matches are sold out and further demand for tickets remains. An expanded Etihad Stadium would allow more people to watch City with a range of new facilities and ticket prices to cater for all budgets. Extensive supporter research clearly indicates that there is a strong desire for more general admission tickets and a variety of matchday hospitality offerings.

Should the expansion go ahead, some areas of Colin Bell and East Stand Level 2 could be upgraded to enjoy an enhanced concourse and access to a private bar.

This could mean a direct impact on the area in which you currently sit. With this in mind we wanted to inform you of these proposals before they are communicated to the wider fan base.

On Friday 12th July, the exhibition which forms the first phase of consultation on the Club's proposals to expand the Etihad Stadium will open. We pride ourselves on our positive relationship with our fans and are therefore keen to seek your views on these proposals.

Just as we did at the outset of our plans to build the City Football Academy - now midway through construction - we have created a consultation facility to inform you of the Stadium Expansion proposals and to gauge your feedback.

There is nothing you need to do at this stage. We will contact you in the coming months as part of the on-going stadium expansion consultation process to provide further details of these potential changes.

Details of the potential stadium expansion can be viewed at the Etihad Stadium or online at mcfc.co.uk/stadiumfuture. The consultation space will be open to the public from Friday 12th July.

Kind regards,

Danny Wilson
