North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

100%

Amazing that some of our fans think unless you want to stand your not a "proper" fan.

The world has moved on from a pie, a pint and standing on the terraces, a lot of fans want more and that's their choice , if your paying 50 quid plus to get in, why not have a private bar, somewhere to get decent food? Does that make you inferior as a supporter?

For where our ticket prices are going, I'm starting to think a quick handie from Big Bertha in the bogs at HT should be included in the price.

City fans...we want a home end
City...here's your new home end
City fans...yes but it's not quite right...
What a set of moaning/entitled ***** we have...
There’s no home end (as in a proper vocal home stand that caters just for vocal fans like ‘home ends’ are in most of the world’s stadiums) incoming from what I’ve seen.
It’s a mixed bag of random stuff to satisfy a bit of everything from tourists to hospitality to families to a slim strip of a standing area at the very back.

And with no new season tickets like what happened with SSL3, it’s not what was expected at all.

We had 10,000 applicants for the cheap tickets in SSL3, of which I think I remember there are 1,200. The demand for more season tickets is there but there aren’t any.

Did you really think we would put 7000 rail seats in ? There has to be a compromise and this is it, people keep going on about the silence of the club regarding it but its miles off finished yet.
Lets trust the club, they haven't done bad so far...
Yes, why not?

It’s come from fans contacting and lobbying the club for decades and especially since the takeover to have a proper vocal stand created at the Etihad, why this has come about. I emailed City back in 2008 and received a phone call from Danny Wilson with feedback on the points I raised. It was a long email that I sent and we were in the phone for about half an hour and we discussed a vocal stand at some length and he said that is what the club wanted as well, they just needed time. We’ve never had a proper vocal stand since moving to the CoMS in 2003 and it’s conspicuous in its absence.

The compromise can come where we have a second tier that can be made into a full hospitality tier. Or blocks like where I sit now in 105, where 104-106 could be made into a second Tunnel Club style experience. Even NSL1 could be the mixed bag.

None of that sort of thing needs to be in NSL2. It’s designed for atmosphere. In the plans, it even has arrows from the middle of the tier (not the back) and then arrows off the roof to show how it’s designed for atmosphere. It’s the one area in the whole stadium that is substantial enough in its area to house a large group of singers (we easily have as many who stand at Wembley than would fit in NSL2). Everywhere else is just little bits of tiers here and there and has never and will never be substantial enough.

At no other stadium in the world would I imagine them building this and not making it a full atmosphere stand when the stadium it’s in already doesn’t have one and the fans have wanted one for decades.

3000 apparently? ‘At the back of the stand’.With 5000 fans sat down in-front.
If out of that 5000 fans persistently stand regardless, the safety regulator will force the club to install more rail seats or take action against the fans standing.

Which option the club goes for is up for debate

Anyone who wants to get chants going is always welcome with 1894. We often share fans song ideas on social media to an audience of over 70k. When we get good feedback we actively try to start those songs from the back of 115 and on away trips.
How about this for Nathan Ake. To the chorus of Yeke Yeke - Hardfloor remix

Yekeke nimo Nathan Ake
Yekeke nimo Nathan Ake
Yekeke nimo Nathan Ake
Yekeke nimo Nathan Ake

Simple, repetitive, only need to learn 4 words and 2 of those are the player’s name.

House anthem. Hardfloor remix has always been a banger. Could definitely see the younger lads bouncing around in the pubs to this.

We will never know if more than 3000 people want to relocate to the proposed NSL2 safe standing section because the club won't release that information.

If the club keeps to it's word and expands the safe standing section over 3000, that starts expanding into the central 'seated areas', which starts eating into more expensive tickets, and starts eating into the NSL2 match day revenue. I can't see the club allowing that to happen.

I think the club will stop at 3000 safe standing seats, regardless if there is more demand from the fans for safe standing seats on NSL2.
Are rail seats cheaper than purely seated seats? How much of a difference is there in paying for a ticket with the option to stand (but still have a seat too), and just having a seat?

By the same logic, if that is the case, the club turning 40% of the new stand additional seating into chraper rail seats based on perceived denand, kind of completely fucks the inhetent distrust based arguements that all this is Just a money making/milking excersise with zero intent for atmosphere.

City's info says the option for increasing the rail seating area will depend on the demand ahead of the stand opening so it is a fixed rather than flexible deadline and I think it would be quite difficult to demonstrate irrefutably beforehand that there is this extra demand. Presumably it would all be decided on the demand from existing season ticketholders who wish to relocate rather than waiting to see what any new flexi gold ticket holders would want.

IMO, at best, it will be priced the same as SSL1 and so very few seasonticketholders from SSL3 would be looking to move.

From reading this thread 1894 submitted a survey which indicated there was high demand for rail standing tickets and yet the baseline figure of 3,000 rail seats was chosen.

I think the key, then, is whether there are many seasonticketholders who sit in blocks that don't really sing who want to move to the rail seating. If 1894 don't move then such seasonticketholders would be the main contributors to what would be effectively a new singing area at the back of the North Stand and if 1894 do decide to move then these seasonticketholders, who now wish to stand, could convince City there is sufficient demand to increase the rail seating from 3,000.

We are delighted to reveal the seating configuration for the expansion of the North Stand at the Etihad Stadium, which will open during the 2025/26 season...

During these discussions, it was clear that fans share our view on the importance of adding rail seating to the expanded North Stand. As such, the Club will introduce a minimum of 3,000 rail seats as part of the expansion, with the option of increasing this allocation ahead of opening should there be further demand.

I think that is a very valid point. I.e how the club go about determining demand, when, etc.

The 1894 survey obviously went a long way, but arguing it should have been enough to convince the club that more than 3000 would be filled is misplaced imo. Lots of fans that filled it in and said they wanted most of the stand to be safe standing, won't actually be taking up those seats in the NS. Does that tangibly demonstrate demand? It shows that's what fans want to see, of course, but is that demand the club can actually back and allocate accordingly?

Think you are right, it will come once the first offers of relocation, ticket sales etc start getting put out by the club, and the reaction to that.

Whenever that is.

It could just as easily be 5000 safe standing and 3000 seats.

It is simply up to the fans to vote with their feet, commit to moving to NS2 safe seating and allow the club to make the necessary arrangements.

It takes two to tango !!

When rail seating was introduced there was a limit of 3,000 so it may not be possible to increase those seats if we have persistent standing. However, rail seats have been shown to be safe so the permitted number may have increased.
Would it be possible to get those who prefer to sit into CB1, CB3, East1 and East2, with those who want to stand and sing in the two ends? Solves some problems but the side stands tend to be more expensive and where does it leave those of us who will happily sit and sing? Also, many fans prefer the view from the side and not just because it has echoes of the Kippax.
Finally a quick question: Does anybody know how far the back of the extended stand will be from the pitch? Are we talking top shelf at Newcastle type distances or "in a different postcode" as seen at West Ham.
