North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

Why don’t you get on to the Club the
I hope you are going to apply that logic to any discussion about any club related topic.

If the club doesn't give a rats arse about City Matters then me mailing Danny Wilson about releasing more FGs is completely pointless wouldn't you say?

The Club have already committed to releasing 3k more flexi-golds

Everything is controlled by the bean counters now and it’s gonna get much worse.

Why would they want more seasoncard holders paying less than every other option they have to flog the tickets. There will never be another new seasoncard sold.

It’s been interesting watching the decisions by multiple clubs over concession tickets at the moment.

With new seasocards no longer available to younger fans - the average age of seasoncard holders at many clubs must be creeping towards there being more concessions than normal within 10-15 years. The solution the clubs are taking is to get rid of concessions. Why do they want ticket revenue to decrease durimg a period it should only go up !

The clubs will think they can justify a minimum of upwards of £100 a ticket in the next 5 years - just like the music gig market now operates.

True but I'd say there is a very good chance that next summer most / all non SC renewals in the rest of the stadium to the extended NS2 will be held back for match day sales. As has been the case for the last three summers.

They are gonna be busy at Livefootball tickets with an extra 8000 tickets to try sand flog for £300 every match !

I think we should let this play out as the club aren't going to change their mind, and let the club fall on it's own sword when hundreds and possibly thousands of tickets remain unsold for matches when the North stand is expanded. Like most other City fans who know what's going on, I won't shed a single tear. I'll just smile as I look around the Etihad at all the empty seats.

With the new stand opening in the middle of next season and the following year being its first full season, how many years will that be with no season tickets being released? It occurs to me that if for a period of 10-15 years only flexigold tickets were issued then with season ticket attrition there'd come a point where the number of flexigold tickets will equal and then surpass the number of season tickets.

Also, if in say 5 years there were 10,000 flexigold tickets and City were thinking of releasing 3,000 season tickets then how would they allocate them? Because even if City gave priority to flexigold holders, then 5,000 who missed out on the season tickets would make more impact rightly complaining than the 3,000 who were glad to obtain season tickets (assuming 2,000 weren't bothered either way). It thus occurs to me that once there are a certain number of flexigold ticketholders, it will become difficult to release more season tickets and what appeared to be a short term option is turning into a long term plan.

Now I don't think this has been fully determined as yet and there are factors, such as whether the seats not bought by flexigold holders 3 weeks before sell, which will confirm the direction of travel. But if things go swimmingly then is the club under the stewardship of Soriano going to forego the £150 premium plus the differences between match selling price and average price of a game on a season ticket for the tickets flexigold ticket holders don't take up? And that is then effectively an increase by stealth of £150 for any new "seasonticket".

I never understand the comparison of gig prices to football prices. Its so different.

I may pay £100 to see , say, coldplay, as a one off every few years. But im not paying that to watch coldplay every other week

I agree with the gist of what you are saying Prophet, except loads of season cards will be passed on to Blues with the blessing of City, when relatives pass away. That’s established practice.

Ive had a season ticket since the early 80s, i sit with my dad and brother. My dad sat with his dad before etc
My 12 year old daughter and 9 year old son are desperate for a SC.
My uncle moved to spain 2 years ago and luckily for my daughter and son they get to use his ticket each game, alternate, and he has a seat when he comes home.
Its comforting to know that when my dad and uncle dies my daughter and son can have their ticket.

Or …… the club can release more season tickets, i’ll not only renew my own bit also buy 2 more, one each for my son n daughter. Not only getting a fair chunk of money but securing the future of match going blues. Maybe my kids will take their kids?

Is it so fuckin hard for the club to grasp?

Ill be forever thankful for the sheik for making my dreams come true but unfortunately he has bean counters who couldnt give a flying fuck for ‘legacy fans’ or future young blues

The Sheikh just rang me and said you can have flexi-gold for your daughter and son. Problem solved.

OK, you're complaint is the fact S/T's aren't available.

It's a good point and I agree there should be some available every year.
The current freeze won't be forever, especially when match day tickets don't sell out due to cost.

And not everyone wants to move to the Family Stand if they take up a child's S/T.

But, the Club have geared the Family stand for families and kids so they won't it full of such.

I don't have the answers but this is nothing to do with the Flexi Gold which (the junior) is brilliant if used properly.

If the opportunity arises for anyone to get one then I recommend it is taken and used.

I’m not sure the current freeze on normal season tickets will end anytime soon or ever, especially not with the current directors running the club.

I was under the impression the family stand on NSL1 is no longer in it’s original concept. Yes, there are still lots of families who sit there, but it’s no longer as difficult as it used to be to get a match ticket on NSL1 without an accompanying child. I stand corrected on that. The continual empty seats at midweek games saw to the demise and end of the original family stand concept.

If the Flexi-Gold season ticket suits you along with the upfront cost, rules and regulations about purchasing match tickets in advance, fair enough. But given the choice, I’m sure you’d rather have the opportunity to buy a normal season ticket for yourself and your child/children. The club should give you that opportunity.

What the club have created are to different levels of season ticket holders. Me and others who pay nothing more for our season tickets, bar the actual cost of our season tickets, and fans like yourself and other City fans who have to pay an upfront cost just to secure and to have a season ticket. It isn’t fair. It’s a divide and conquer tactic by the club. Do as we say or you won’t get a (Flexi-Gold) season ticket. Whilst on the other side of the divide, I and other City fans are guaranteed a season ticket without any additional purchase cost, rules, and regulations.

All I’m saying is, you and other City fans shouldn’t have to pay an upfront cost of £150 and £75 for an adult and a child season ticket.(regardless of having the opportunity of spreading that cost out over 10 months) Like me and others, you should be able to buy a season ticket without an upfront cost. I’m on your side, and on the side of all City fans who are being forced by the club to buy Flexi-Gold season tickets because the club isn’t offering regular season tickets anymore, on ‘purpose’, to drive season ticket revenue.

I don't know how many times I have to say this but,

A choice between a junior S/T or a Junior F/G, I would take the F/G.

You seem it a bit blinded by the £75, or more accurately £55 as pointed out by TOTO.

I couldn't give a toss about paying £7.50 a month to enable me to buy tickets at lower than half the price they would be.

Actually bored with this now, but if we had 51k S/T holders there would have been fewer there on Wednesday than there actually was!

I think after several years restricting the supply of season tickets there is going to be huge demand for these tickets especially from existing season ticket holders who are parents whose children weren't old enough to be taken when season tickets stopped being sold but are old enough now. Such parents are likely to see this as potentially the only opportunity to take their child on a regular basis as it would allow them to move their seat and get another seat or seats next to it. In this situation I think the parents will just overlook the £75 premium child stealth tax -
I wonder if City will give any priority to such season ticket holding parents.

I also think it's really poor that City will come nowhere close to even trying to meet the demand for season tickets (or even flexi golds) from predominantly local fans and instead keep tickets back to sell them for £70 per game.
