North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

I know this may sound as if I am poking my nose in where it probably isn’t wanted but I’m cheeky enough to do it!
Maybe we give the club the benefit of the doubt and see how it goes?
I am not a conspiracy theorist thinking all the club want is money, money, money. They do too much good for the community and for the fans for me to think that.
They are a business yes, a business that needs to make money to keep going. They know that one off tourists are not going to continually bring in money. The description one off tells us that. We as SC holders bring in money every week. Ok we don’t buy a new kit or a half and half scarf or a souvenir, but we bring in money from food, ticket prices, car parks etc.

I’m sorry to butt in but this will be my last season as a SC holder because of my health. Please, please stop arguing among yourselves and take joy and pride in enjoying the matches with MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD. :-) :-)

p.s. when they removed some seats for the advertising hoardings or something I was asked to move. As it turned out in the end they left our bit alone eventually because of the cameras and media in front of us. But I’d psyched myself up to move so I have a bit of an understanding as to how those being asked to move feel. I’m sorry if I offend anyone, it is not my intention. I’m just trying to see another perspective. :-) :-) :-)
What a fantastic post. This is what it means to be a City fan.

So is the general consensus that despite the club offering a minimum of 3000 standing seats to support the creation of a more atmospheric stand those who have been asking for it are actually going to say thanks but no thanks and stay in their silent masses in the south stand because some seats in the stand will be a bit more expensive and have access to a nicer area?, fucking mard arses , don't blame the club when we are sat in silence for most games going forward.
In a nutshell mate

That seems to be the position many are taking.

They're letting 800 (TBC) GA+ seats within a stand that will add another 6,000+ to the existing North Stand Level 1 prevent them from getting behind the positives.

Let's step back and imagine we're moving into the stadium for the first time. The South Stand has the away fans - great for some banter. But it's split over three levels and very hard to generate a coordinated atmosphere.

The North Stand has some GA+ seating within it, and not in ideal locations. But it's one huge tier providing an opportunity for 6,000+ blues to go and make a racket under the roof. The design from a noise perspective is by far the best - with the side panels and slope. It's going to make a racket. Initially 3,000 of those blues will have safe standing, with the ability to expand that provision.

The single tier means nothing though since it’s not being used in a singular capacity. It’s broken down into (multiple) sub tiers and the set up means it has no benefit atmosphere wise over if it had been another 3rd tier.

Tier 2
Sky Bar
Safe Standing
Standard seating
GA+ (Cross Bar)
Family Stand L2

Tier 1
GA+ (City Hall)
Family Stand L1

Clear as mud that post mate :)

Talk about a simplistic view. By the way, if it wasn't for all those thousands of "fucking mard arses" sticking up for all City fans last season, you'd be paying more for your season tickets AND match day tickets this season.

People are entitled to their opinions but discussions about the plans the club have for the new stand have been done to death on here ages ago. Nothing in that new announcement yesterday indicates a shift in policy from the club to a more atmospheric end compared to their earlier announcement some 12 months ago. In fact, it's arguably worse as now we have the club dropping a big fuck-off bomb on some fans who were previously unaware that they're going to be turfed out of their seats. Funny how they didn't bother informing those fans until about half an hour before yesterday's announcement went public despite the fact that the club would've known for many months that they were going to have to relocate fans. Now if you want to defend that particular shitshow then that's your prerogative but for me it smacks of yet another example of not giving much of a shit about our legacy support.

I also note that even at this late stage there is still no news on the pricing. For all the other arguments for and against, seriously how the fuck can anyone make an informed decision on relocating when they have no idea what the prices are?

I completely disagree.

Would it be better to be all GA seating/safe standing? Yes of course.

But you're talking a few hundred GA+ (Cross Bar) within a single tier with what 7-8,000 seats? 3,000 of which are safe standing.

I've been to away games where we've had a couple of thousand and outsung the home fans. There's still an unbelievable opportunity for people to go and make an absolute racket in that stand.

I can appreciate those that state you wouldn't see this in the Yellow Wall at Dortmund. But they've got the yellow wall in the first place, in a much bigger ground and in a pricing model where the fans have the ability to ensure they don't get fleeced. We're building from scratch, trying to create something that ticks a few boxes and as a compromise it's still pretty good.

Ultimately it comes down to pricing. If it's priced attractively it will take off and everyone will be happy. If not, then it will be full but it won't be generating the atmosphere we'd hope. Noting the post from @M18CTID I completely agree. People moaning have a right to and have helped secure reduced prices and more access to season tickets so their actions have helped us all. I get people's reservations but I see the positives still - and there are plenty. But pricing makes or breaks it.

There's no guarantee the FG seat will get sold. Like there is no guarantee the ST seat will get sold on the ticket exchange. Both ticket sales are dependent on factors like the opposition, the location of the seat, sitting, standing, etc.

My seat always sells if I can't make the match and list it on the TE. SSL1, block 115. Other City fans aren't so fortunate with their seats.
Of course there's no guarantee that either will sell. Only the ST one that doesn't get listed, that's 100% guaranteed not to sell. At least there would be a chance with the FG ticket.

Bravo EB, sorry to hear that you're having to give up your ST on health grounds but otherwise that's an excellent post and for my money, bang on the nose.

There’s nothing to disagree with - It’s a factual statement. The full extended tier isn’t really being used in a way that has any additional benefit over a third tier.

The current planned set up of tier 2 means that for all intents and purposes, the expansion itself is operating as a 3rd tier.

Tier 2 would have the family stand in place, then a dividing line for GA+ seats, and then standard/safe standing seats.

That means there’s no real difference, apart from visually, then if they had built a third tier instead, kept the family stand as tier 2 and had tier 3 as standard and safe standing.

Well, we've all been taken by surprise, but the details have been hiding in plain sight in the planning docs (even includes the name Cross Bar ffs!) I have drawn how City hall will be accessed from inside the stadium. It seems us plebs in level 0 will have to stick to the concourse.image004.png

If you're having to include the Sky Bar into your thinking then you're struggling to make any point there. It is physically a separate entity and has never been considered a part of the big 2nd tier by anyone to my recollection, including by yourself.

I don't know why you'd separate safe standing from seated fans, and the GA+ section is relatively tiny. Perhaps I missed it but have the club mentioned where the family section will be? Will it actually still exist at all.

That post sounds like you decided on your stance beforehand and you then just shoehorning bits in as "proof".

Fair enough, when I sit in the new stand I 'll go on the concourse, some people will choose to pay more to go into a seperate bar area, makes no difference to watching the game which is what I'm there for ,not sure why I'm supposed to care

I’ll re-post my later post to make it clearer. You’re getting too hung up on GA+. My general point is more about the layout of the tier as a whole not really having any benefits over a 3rd tier.
