North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

That’s always been the case. Sadly, all to often on a match day that doesn’t happen.
Agreed. It’s not just City fans to be fair. We’ll not struggle to sell new season tickets in whatever guise they are made available and to be honest I’m not convinced we have 5000 plus fans willing to make relentless noise all game in a blue wall.

To be honest the reduction to match day prices this season has been a great thing. Given the rate we’re pushing Bournemouth tickets I’m wondering where all of the singing fans referred to on this thread are? They aren’t buying Bournemouth tickets but the looks of it
The "big" games get snapped up fast and the "lower profile" games struggle to sell out. This type of trend line may steepen with the expanded North Stand. I am glad more effort is going into getting more youngsters into the ground to sustain our match going fan base.

I have tried to encourage plenty of people I know to go to the Bournemouth game. Some will go and it's like flogging a dead horse with others. Obviously people have limited budgets too.

The game won’t sell out but that will be pretty much down to the returned Bournemouth block numbers, the number of unsold seats will be around or less than the number of returned away tickets, plus isn’t it school holidays next week?

I like there to be a full house but it is what it is. Some rival fans obsession with empty seats shows their lack of football understanding and lack of awareness of financial realities facing families etc.

If we get close to a sell out and we have been shifting Bournemouth returns like you say, that is more than good enough for me.

Price out huge numbers of fans over years, alienate them, and then just expect them to come back for the Bournemouth game.

‘Come on legacy fans, you can come to Bournemouth or Burnley at home, but not any of the bigger games or games that mean the most’ - sounds fair

Just an observation but from what I’ve seen most of those ‘singers’/ legacy fans you talk about aren’t coming back for the bigger games either. It’s mainly tourists and people there because of who it’s against.

The returned Bournemouth tickets on SSL3 will sell out as Adult tickets are only £30. OAP, Youth, and Junior tickets are also cheap in that block. Those prices are always the same and cheap when the SSL3 away block isn’t taken up by away fans.

They are actually £25 for Cityzen members, i'm surprised how slow they've sold.

I hear you mate, I do. The club have reduced prices and while some remain pricey, some are priced a lot better too. It’s time to move on and get behind the team, provided fans can afford it, surely?

Please don’t think I’m getting involved in any arguments, I’m just curious, it’s unfortunately part of my nature, but as City Matters is the elected group that City want to deal with, why doesn’t one of your group (or even 2/3) stand for election? As my old Dad used to say it’s easier to influence things from the inside than outside.

JMHO in Curiosity!
Some members have got on at times but they weren’t really there to represent 1894.

If the club were ever serious about an atmosphere rep that’s a different discussion.

The previous head of Citymatters made a load of recommendations as to how to improve and bring transparency to the selection criteria.

There’s still some way to go before all of those recommendations get acted on.

Thanks Dante. I thought the legal challenge might not have took place (but wasn't sure) and saw it as more of a challenge through the media, that can be as effective.

I saw on social media a Trades Union Blues account and in fairness, I did recognise a couple of Blues in the account pic.
It was Leigh Day that wrote to the club and asked the club to respond.

It’s not tactics we would have done ourselves however it certainly got the restrictions talked about on national media.

Bad PR is the club’s Achilles heel. They bring it on themselves though.

The club picks the final candidates from the applications, and the fans vote for them. I stand corrected if that is wrong?

There isn’t an atmosphere Rep.

The OSC Rep wasn’t voted

Flexi-golds allows the fan to attend every Prem home game and have the same seat. By your definition they are season cards.
But if they forget to buy the ticket in time they can’t claim ownership of the ticket it goes to someone else. It’s not their ticket to start with whereas ownership of the ticket is always the case with an actual season ticket.

Half sold in 12 days.

I think they would be all gone by now if it was 2023/24. There are two other home games in the next week, one with a lot of availability to members.

I give up. You guys aren't satisfied with the "North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc" thread, you have to come here and ruin this one.
It was all in one thread for several years, the other was never used by those who asked for it. Old habits.

It's not a factual statement at all! You're suggesting our 2 tier stand is 3 tiers. It isn't.

Whether it's got families at the front and some GA+ in it doesn't stop it being a single tier. They're not segregated by a physical split in the stand. Your perception is that we'll have a group of families sat on their bums with a group of GA+ fans sat on their bums and that wrecks what could have been. I don't think that is enough to write off the whole stand as being capable of generating a good atmosphere. How many of us went to Maine Road as kids and joined in the singing? And then got older and looked to go in the noisiest parts of the ground?

It would of course be better to be a fully safe standing tier, but I genuinely don't believe we have enough fans who would want to fill that and make a noise anyway based on what I've witnessed at Wembley in recent cup finals.

When there's a good set of away fans at the Etihad you can hear them. We've got double that number in the North Stand, half of them currently proposed as safe standing. That's enough to make some noise.
The size of the GA+ area at the foot of the new NSL1 is no bigger and will make as little impact to the tier of fans behind them than when kids would sit on and in front of the wall of the Kippax:

Excuse the rough arse photoshop work as just messing around on my lunch break. But imagine if they filled in level 0 and gave us this...
Now you’re talking… will sadly never be seen!

The thing I really like about flexi-golds (credit to City Matters) is that they are part of a drive to get thousands more youngsters into the ground. City put the effort in to sit / stand new flexi-golders with their families. That’s in keeping with the Club’s historical values / “Maybe in another generstion”. Yes it’s a bi-product benefit and not intrinsic to flexi-golds but City weren’t helping with this before. The obsession with maximising income was undermining our fan base.

The reduction in matchday ticket prices (credit to 1894 and others) and the pathway to full season cards are steps in the right direction. We should move towards a situation where there is a genuine choice between season cards and flexi-golds.
