North Stand expansion | Trial Event - Wed 20th May (p110)

it blows my mind that whoever at City is responsible for organising this test event thought that thousands would be happy to pay to attend when there is nothing to see or do.

If they couldn’t have worked it to show the Bournemouth game on a screen or an open training session, then they needed to incentivise people to attend.

Instead they chose the cheapest option and have ended up with an event that is pointless as it won’t allow the stand to be opened fully for the Villa game.
They charged for it because of their experience of offering free events, where people apply for tickets then don't turn up. If they make a nominal charge then that's less of a problem.

If they had players there like last time it would have been fine.

There was zero incentive to go unless you just wanted a look around, which most people aren't interested in.

What do you mean “nothing to see or do?”

I’m absolutely buzzing to see a race between Moonchester and Moonbeam. Hopefully there will be a Blue Moon singalong too. They could even be firing sweets into the crowd.

Back in the day, if we were told that our club was building (what will probably be) one of the best stands in world football, so people can watch top level Premier League and Champions League football, most blues would have bitten their hands off. These days we're all too spoilt. 'why should we help out, 'how can they charge us', ' they should be putting on something to entertain us' etc etc. How about us blues just selflessly helping our club out. As usual, something positive turns out to be a moanfest.

Well said! Some probably feel they should be paid to be there at this point!

They cant open it in full, they could potentially open it by using Villa as the test event with 3500 fans.
Don't imagine it will come to that. But they are selling tickets for villa gradually on that basis.

They can double the test event numbers, so however many show up, will dictate how many can go to villa.

Of course but just a few posts talking like why isn’t all tickets gone
Probably down to a bit of frustration. We pretty much all thought the tickets would sell faster, and hoped they would sell out.

4 of us going down for this.

I used to hang around Maine Road playing truant getting autographs in the 1970's and would always take a detour past Maine Road when I started driving in my 20's. Then in my 30's and 40's when it was no longer there I'd still take a detour to remind the kids, (yes we know Dad City used to play there). Into my 50s and living in Denton with my parents over in Harpurhey meant I could always drive past the Etihad and it became a regular detour if I ever had people in the car. Now im in my 60's and im still hanging around empty grounds like it was the 1970's with nothing else better to do!
