North Stand Expansion

Are the columns up at the moment all lift shafts?

Groups of lift shafts, yes. And staircases attached.

6 lifts shafts and a staircase in the biggest middle one, 2 lift shafts and a staircases on the smaller outer ones. A couple smaller service risers amongst them.

Why so many lifts? Hotels have this thing called maximum waiting times, which they as a brand/operator require. Based on the height, number of floors, speed of lift, the numbers of rooms and users etc, they will add as many lifts as needed to not go over this time (generally up to a minute and a half max).

This is a big hotel, 400 rooms, 9 floors. 10 lifts. One a couple are dedicated service lifts for staff and linen/etc. One is a dedicated vip lift. But all in, the scale of this is sometimes easy to overlook.

Cheers pal. Very informative.

Will they be installing solar panels anywhere.

There are PVs on the roofs of the hotel and office block, looks like about 250m2 on each. Coupled with airsource heat pumps generally.
