Meanwhile over in the USA same idea of what City are trying to do with an entertainment district
Not to burst your bubble, but that video is a $2BILLION pipe dream of a city that still owes $400M on the last upgrade ( which is what you see being demolished at the start of that video).
I live in the suburban town where the Chicago Bears just bought a racecourse complex for $197M to build their own stadium. It already has highway and rail access.
Soldier Field is currently the smallest capacity NFL Stadium in the country and is not owned by the Football Owners, so their revenues from the stadium are even less than just a capacity issue. Add in Corporate Suites, etc…and the Bears are looking to build their own “SoFi Stadium” clone (which is what you see on that video).
If Chicagoans lived in the metaverse in that video, it might be as spectacular as they have tried to make it. However, the reality will probably much more like what happened at the massive McCormick Place Convention Center…full of good intentions in a (still) bad neighborhood that never lived up to the hype.
I will say a (retractable) dome roof would be a significant improvement to any new Chicagoland stadium structure given the summer heat and winter cold.
