North Stand Expansion

Completely demolished by tomorrow. Just a small section left standing. Top left corner of the site. Click on the picture to enlarge it.

As others have noted, the expanded North stand, 3000 capacity fanzone, hotel, museum, souvenir store, retail and offices are going to be massive. Look at the size of the whole site.

Think the one that really fucked Bucks Group is Craven Cottage, was always gonna be challenging with it being listed. Unfortunately its been a race to the bottom for a while as regards pricing for construction projects with percentage margins down to single digits, so any delays or price shocks cant be absorbed if they have gone in as a fixed price and the client is playing hardball commercially.

Its a shame really as I've work with Bucks a few times on infrastructure jobs and always found them to be one of the better construction contractors.

Taking everything into consideration, how difficult will it be for the construction contractor to price this challenging and lengthy build correctly?

Aren’t the build costs supposed to be in the region of £300mill upwards already, with an unforeseen delays or issues?

I think one of the contenders have backed out or gone bump
 
They won't be. But it doesn't take a genius to work out how BAMs figures will have been effected.

Increase in construction costs on large new builds tends to come out in the press eventually, albeit a ball park figure with little or no detail.

The Coop Live Arena was originally going to cost £350mill, now it’s £365mill to build. The figure will probably be higher than that on completion.

Due to unforeseen work, material price rises etc, the council needs another £29mill to continue the refurbishment of the town all.

The proposals in this report will increase the Council’s capital budget by £29.0m, and funding this through borrowing will increase the Council’s capital financing requirement by the same amount.

The cost that comes out is the cost the client buys the project for, the cost to build it can be vastly different.

Sysk ! (pardoning the spelling if the spelling is wrong) last week after a walk round from the club shop several what seemed to be suited and booted guys in the North Stand entrances with high vis Sysk jackets discussing something and making notes on tablets ! Not sure if there has been any official annouchment yet!

They lost over £11m on the Riverside Stand, The Craven Cottage stadium is not listed just the cottage.

The Johnny Haynes Stand (Stevenage Road) is also grade 2 listed. I think this is the oldest stand still in use in the Premier League. See below:-
