North Stand Expansion

He says there is no where to go around the Old Tollet nut I thought there was a bridge over to Salford Quays where they have all that stuff.
He means directly around the ground or attached to the ground. Ring any bells? :-) Apart from Lou Macari's chippy and the Bishop's Blaize there is nothing much else next to OT. Town is a 20 minute walk away. 10 minutes by tram. 5 minutes by a taxi. Mediacity and the bars are a 20 minute walk away. Etc. OT pretty much mirrors the Etihad in that aspect.

There are loads drinking just over the canal on Trafford Road to the left, whether it is hotel bars or coffee shops etc they all seem to be having a beer. I walk that way when we play them. They may be 600/800m away but they are closer than the tram stops or around Exchange Quay distance.

There are also several hotels right on their doorstep making good money pre and post matchday long before the hotel football opened, even though it looks fairly baron around the ground.

The Guy making the claims has no experience being a matchday fan with his £2 burger, and doesn't know what there is as the club don't own any of it. People leave early as they have long distances to drive, one of the tram stops is normally empty going to Salford/Eccles.

Media City is about 10 mins.

But what he means is that Rags don't get any cash from that

Splitting hairs. Walking is about 20 minutes either down Wharf Road and over the Lowry bridge, or over the red iron road bridge and that way around. Of course there is Metrolink and taxis. But like City, Jim wants that money to be spent at United before and after the match..

Didn't know about the bars over the canal. Yes, there are pubs and hotels around OT, but most United fans don't drink in the hotels unless they are staying there. Most United fans head to town or to Mediacity after the match. There's also LCCC next to the Metrolink stop that has bars and a hotel.

I'm sure Jim will take a keen interest in our setup when the North stand, fan zone, museum, hotel, retail, etc are up and running. There isn't anything like it yet in the PL.

It won’t be long until the journey from Etihad to Piccadilly is very different to what it is now.

There are huge development plans for the land around the Mayfield depot area.

This will gather a lot more pace once the Co Op eventually opens.
