I dont like yaya sitting so deep but I'm starting to think he's carrying an injury which is inhibiting him. I would have swapped him and Milner when we were turning the screw in the second half.

Milner probably should have been the anchor from the start. We needed YaYa further up the pitch.
Milner certainly can play the role - he got YPOTY at Villa playing there.
He played as a box to box midfielder at Villa

If we lose the league it will be due to the injury to fernandinho. He's missed 3 league games and we haven't scored in any of them. I wouldn't blame Pellegrini for today instead I would say Txiki failed to see how important it was for us to sign cover for fernandinho and Yaya in January. We were given a warning against Sunderland, without him we were slow and payed without tempo. We didn't heed it balked at signing Fernando and instead we lose one player and we are a shadow of ourselves.

We tried very hard to buy a holding midfielder for exactly this reason in January. The management were clearly aware that with rodwell's lack of progress, there was a potential problem, and we got unlucky the very next week. None of us know the details of the Fernando transfer, or the other similar players we tried to do deals with. There's no point in recriminations with nothing but rumour to base them on. This club has made too many short term decisions in the transfer market with longer term ramifications.

You're right we have made poor short term signings in the past bridge, Garcia, Maicon and Sinclair to name but a few. Though the failure of the previous negotiators to land Hazard and the failure of Txiki or whoever to bring in a midfielder could be very costly this season.

You're correct that no one knows the ins and outs of these deals but if you have an issue with your side you try and address it in the transfer window. We didn't and I think it has cost us points.

My nightmare scenario is that we will do an arsenal, be in contention for the quadruple going into February and out of the cups and off the pace in the league by early March. Need to beat Sunderland and Chelsea in the next week or a slight wobble becomes a mini crisis.

Not long been home from the game and having looked at few pages on this thread and noted that the Pellegrini thread is missing, it looks like the meltdown that I anticapted as I left Carrow Road is present and correct.

I cannot pretend not to be bitterly disappointed in the result and somewhat disappointed in the team's performance but Pellegrini picked exactly the same team as me and made that subs that I would have made; although I would rather have taken Negredo off before Jovetic but I assume fitness was a factor there.

The game was a bit bloodless and we definitely lacked tempo. Norwich though were extremely well organised and work hard to deny us space in the danger areas; they also did a good job of cutting out our crosses. The big problem, as has too often been the case when we face a parked bus, was a lack of clinical final balls and finishes.

Navas put in 17 crosses and 11 corners but not one resulted in a goal attempt. He should have managed even more crosses but did not take on his full back often enough.

Dzeko was not on the pitch long but managed four goal attempts but not one worked the keeper. Kolarov was on the pitch even less time but had two shots, both of which were feeble, despite him possessing a hammer of a shot.

Yaya had a below par day and never took anyone on, even though the situation was crying out for him to make some drivig runs at the heart of their defence.

Every word is correct.

Navas needs to change the way he takes some corners or let someone else have a go. Too predictable/too deep to generate power.

It's obvious we have issues:
CB
LB
Depth of squad in CM positions

Pointless anyone moaning as these can only be solved in future transfer windows.

These issues have been obvious since we won the title. We have had 4 windows to solve them.

Hardly.

We had a poor window in summer 2012 which was mar wood working alone.

This summer we upgraded in midfield but had to let Barry out on loan because of ffp (how dodgy of us)

We upgraded upfront. There were no buyers for Dzeko so we kept him this season.

We added navas which we needed as had lost Johnson.

We couldn't add CB. Out priced for thiago silva a few years ago. Again if no ffp prob not.

Can't solve every problem at once.

Eh ? we let Barry go for FFP, ?
Link please.
Can i have one showing we were after flogging Edin also.

I have not heard these stories, i thought Barry just wanted game time ?

I have to say I'm never surprised at how fickle some football fans are with the doom and gloom posts, when a couple of weeks ago the same team and manager were going to win the quadruple. Although I can understand it to an extent after the result because I was thinkin the same thoughts for a while, but in reality I have to tell myself that we are still in it. We have had a couple of shit results / performances and if the last week had gone differently we could be 4 points clear at the top, but a couple of posts have even suggested it being a waste of time and money going to watch them today. Over the years the true fans have paid to watch the team through all sorts of adversity so to be feeling down over being third instead of top of the premier league is not all that bad.

When we won the league, it was as good as over with about 5 or 6 games left after we lost to arsenal, but we still managed it, so to write it off with 13 games left is daft. Anything could happen. In reality I think Chelsea will just pip it but I'm not writing us of at all. We are having a bad patch, but that is not reason to start getting rid of players and the manager, the same players and manager that were destroying everyone a couple of weeks ago. I don't think Chelsea were calling for Jose's head and suggesting everyone will leave when they drew a couple of weeks ago.

On another note, does anyone else miss dejong? I'm sure we wouldn't have lost the games we have to the lower teams if he was still playing. He took loads of pressure off the defence by breaking down attacks in front of the back 4

Hamman is a great pundit.

I wish people would stop having a go at people when they say it how it is. I'd rather they talk football sense than want them to kiss our arse all the time.
