But that's the thing... it's not the squad; it's the manager.
The manager's job is to motivate his squad and to get the very best out of each and every player; beyond that, the manager must be strategically sound, putting in place a game plan designed best-exploit an opponent's weaknesses while countering their strengths. Finally a manager must be tactically savvy - able to change his game plan to adapt to unexpected contingencies.
In every single one of these areas, Pellegrini is a colossal failure.
The only thing Pellegrini has going for him as a manager, is that, unlike Mancini, he doesn't piss anyone off.
I've nick-named Pellegrini "The Demotivator" - because that's what he excels at. Substitutes players off when they're on a hat trick; pulls them off when they're just killing it and enjoying themselves; rotates the best players out when they clearly want to play. Hugely demotivating. And to top it off, he's incredibly low-key - incapable of sparking any desire to kick the opponent's ass.
I can't wait for Pep.
It's not the squad's fault here - it's the manager.

That said, Pellegrini seems to be an outstanding person. I applaud his continued commitment to our team in spite of knowing he's going to be replaced.
I wish him the best of luck at his next club... but equally so.... I'm elated that he won't be our manager next season.
