Anyhow what will be etc.
There will be concerns about the loss of CL if it happens (especially as it kills dead all the momentum we gained by going so far this year at last!)
But we can look to positives that come if we get no CL and go in Europa.
They are:
1: We do not have to qualify at the very start of the season as we now would in CL so we have a month to try to build a lead in the PL whilst Pep is adjusting.
2: Most fans seem to prefer Europa over CL - they are better games than the chess matches CL have turned into.
3: We ought to have a real chance of winning the Europa and would almost certainly be one of the if not the - favourites. Might be to our advantage to win a European trophy we can win first as I still think we are 2 or 3 seasons away from having the right team and mentality to win the CL.
4: I feel we have to go for the Europa to some degree as our coefficient will suffer if we do not won't it? That would impact CL seedings when we return. So I think we will give it a shot and being in with a good chance of a Euro final is an attraction to some players that might compensate for no CL for one year.
5: If we do decide not to go for the Europa by playing a mixed team (youth and experience) then that gives us a heads up to fight to win the PL in next season when potentially five rivals are distracted by CL and when the money means winning the league is harder than ever.
With Pep having to adjust and a new team to bed in any edge we have to get Pot 1 the season after next by winning the PL is one we should be happy with.
Winning the PL next season has to be top priority for the club. Cannot see how anyone will dispute that.
