Not saying thank you to courteous motorists

Ah, now that raises a point. I'll tell who do drive like cunts at times in their vans and lorries — anybody in the building trade (hope you're not in the building trade). I think the reason is that they genuinely are in a tearing hurry, because half of them juggle several sites at the same time, they do a bit of work on one, then rush off to another.

I only let drivers out of side roads if the traffic on the main road is stop-start or slow moving. If the traffic is flowing normally, braking unexpectedly could possibly cause a problem for an unaware driver behind.
My driving instructor warned me that doing this during a test would not impress the examiner, it would result in a failure. Some drivers will wait for 2,3 or even more cars, just causing a queue of traffic behind.
On my usual route home there is a building at a junction where the car park can be entered from a side road and exits on to the main road. Drivers often use this to cut the corner and jump then they try to force their way out into traffic. To me they are simply queue jumpers.

What these polite people who let drivers out from side roads don’t realise is that at the same time that they’re being all kind and generous to those on the side road, they are inconveniencing the car(s) directly behind them.

This is why I’ll rarely let a car in from a side road, especially if I’m in a queue of slow moving traffic.

They can wait :)

What about those who are joining a motorway? Do you let those in then?;)

You WON'T wanna wait though , if it's YOU who is trying to exit the side road!

Then you'll be hoping and praying that some curteous driver let's you out!

It's a van that's white :) basically most trades vans in this country are white and the drivers used to have a bad rep for driving like twats, mainly because they aren't their own I would have thought.
Some white van drivers tear around like lunatics all over the place though, especially if they are multi drop drivers, and will generally only stop to let a pretty girl cross the road in front of them!

A parcel delivery driver parked his van in the middle of my narrow residential road, close to a junction and completely blocking traffic from all direction. He knocked on my door with the parcel but he had the wrong address. I pointed out the correct street, just around the corner, he left his van and walked off.
By the time he got back, vehicles were blocked in all around, everyone arguing and blasting away, cars driving on pavements, reversing into main roads, total chaos.

It is virtually non-existent in the States, but then so is good driving.

I was literally almost in a 4 car pile up on my way to the airport tonight when a brand new jacked up Ford Bronco didn’t follow the lines during a turn at the traffic light! She clearly didn’t know where she was going (which is often the case at the airport) but she cut across two lanes in the turn causing numerous vehicles to take evasive action. I was one that was driven out wide, but managed to stay on the road, but then the big new white AMG Merc SUV behind me then proceeded to try to stop me getting back into my lane.

I pulled up alongside her at the next light, indicated to roll down the window. She did and I asked her if she was lost, because not only was she in the taxi lane about to turn into the taxi holding area, but she just cut across all the turn lanes marked at the light and almost caused an accident!

She was deeply apologetic and told me where she was trying to go. I explained she needed to do a U turn and go back thru the light in the other direction. Being in uniform helped, because she was entirely non aggressive towards me, as was I with her, but it could easily have been a 4 car accident and she was oblivious to her part in it.

In short, I try hard to be a defensive driver, both for my own sanity and insurance premiums, but the lack of common courtesy is annoying, esp when one goes out of their way to be polite.

Lastly, pro truck drivers in the State are the most courteous drivers on the road, esp when you display good etiquette towards them.

To be fair it’s probably hard to pay attention to the road when you’re simultaneously noshing on a Big Gulp and quadruple cheeseburger while adjusting your MAGA cap and checking your assault rifle is loaded.
