You think that doesn’t also apply to other mass public events? Protests, football, festivals, the police always become passive when they’re outnumbered 100 to 1.

But by pretending it only happens at Notting Hill, people invent a situation where they can ignore the facts to justify the feelings they have towards this particular event, for whatever reason they hold those feelings.

Yes, it's just like other mass public events. Very similar to those far right things actually that are largely made up of 'peaceful patriots' celebrating englishness.

What a tosser.

For it to be a truly British experience we would need to spend it queueing in the rain. Finally a bus comes but you have no change. Then your friend starts a fight and the kebabs go flying. A shrill lady shouts "he's not worth it" over and over again. Then we all get matching "mum" tattoos and sing Come on Eileen. At the end of the night someone gets stabbed and we blame the only black lad that was there.
