Nottingham Forest (A) | Post Match Thread

As fantastic as he is, yesterday was on Pep I’m afraid. Get Ake on after 75 minutes and we’ve won that game. Some of our older players were out on their feet on 70 minutes as well but he doesn’t change it until 88 minutes!
Why he banged on about 5 subs is an absolute mystery…….

11 points dropped from winning positions is bad enough, but the number of late goals we are conceding is ridiculous. Forget missed chances, as they always happen, but not being able to see a game out, against a team that were bottom of the championship last year and had 7 regulars missing, is a huge worry. We could be on the end of a right battering in the CL when we draw somebody decent, assuming we can navigate our way past Leipzig, which is certainly not a given..
Pep does not have the nous to set a team up to protect a one goal lead , Mourinho was the best in the business in his prime for doing this ,but certain managers have attributes and Pep's has always been playing progressive football , it is probably his only fault he cannot or will not shut up shop.
Having said the above , you cannot begin to concieve a team of top european players can miss around ten clear cut chances in a match , some of these players are the best in the business and none of them could hit a barn door yesterday.
We have a natural world cup winning goal poacher on the bench nearly every game in Alvarez and i cannot believe he didnt bring him on at the start of the second half against Forest when we needed a second goal , because the majority knew at 1-0 , Forest would scab a chance and a possible goal ,
One shot / one goal happens to us far to often , and it isnt just Ederson at fault its the whole back four who go to sleep on the odd occasion and it invariably costs us in tight games.

De Bruyne is becoming an issue. We're carrying him. He was great against arsenal but the turnaround was clearly too much for him - pep needs to get ruthless with him.

He needs a 3 week injury just to get a rest.

Already started 35 games this season for club and country, and only been rested for 3.

Or retire from international football before the March break.

He’s only 31 and he’s just become the captain. He shouldn’t have to give up international football because Pep never rests him. Look at Modric, Messi, even Ronaldo. It’s entirely possible for a player to do both at the top level in their early 30s.

Also the idea of pushing a player to retire from internationals is very Ferguson era rag behaviour and I hated it then and I hate it now.

Perhaps he should time his 3-week injury to coincide with the meaningless March games for Belgium. Happy?

Watching how they use Rashfords pace makes you wonder if Ten Hag would do a better job with Haaland.we don’t have any pace in the team. We break forwards and more often than not grealish and mahrez slow it down and allow the defence to organize. We moan about Kev but he’s the only one capable of releasing Harland early.

We will never get the chance to find out. They rode their luck in the first half with Leicester. Same with Arsenal, any side better than them would of punished them.

To many games to go we play like yesterday we will go on a long unbeaten run! 6 games left we are around 4/6 behind we in it
What gives you that hope and belief? We’re far too inconsistent and we’ll remain that until we get a settled have four including a proper world class left back.

Like you say, pep will never shut up shop. His idea of that is to have as much of the ball as possible. If were controlling the ball the otehr team is less likely to score. We were in control but you could see where they were targeting and even with 80% of the ball, if the other team use their 20% on your weak spot, then shit can happen and it did yesterday.
