Nottingham Forest (H) | Post Match Thread

We really can't catch a break this season when it comes to injuries. I thought once again Ake was stand out at the back, just so composed and strong in 1v1's. When we think about the difference in him and Gvardiol its easy to note how far Ake is ahead of him as he's so solid, but you forget how poor he was earlier at City. I remember thinking he would never be good enough for City, it just takes time i guess. Gvardiol is such a strange player, clearly an absolute athlete but uses his body poorly when in 1v1's, just not strong enough and not focussed enough to do what's needed at the right time. Generally his passing has been amazing for us, breaks the lines really well, but at the moment he's doing everything wrong - maybe just needs to take a breath and go back to the basics with simple passes for now.
I thought KDB looked completely different to what we've seen from him since the treble season, actually looked like he could move last night and some of his turns were brilliant - not seen that in a while! You can see Gundo needed that composure around him, as soon as KDB came off he went to pieces for a bit and was just turning into players.

We always give up opportunities, thats never been new for City, but we need to build on something. The biggest issue right now is when we take a step forwards we get injuries and it's hard to build from.

Thought we played well last night, controlled the game well bar a couple of mistakes that led to them breaking. Gutted about Ake, he is our best option in defence with Dias. Akanji looked off the pace and struggling.

No 10 is his natural position.

Played well last night.
Tbh, I always thought that this is the position we bought him for, but you expect pep to know best and he did give us more control and clogged up our left for attacking teams, like Madrid. When we signed Jack, my Villa supporting nephew asked why we had bought him and I said to play in the middle. I've looked a right arse until last night!

They did beat Liverpool away so they're definitely a team that can cause problems to anyone.
That maybe the case, but do you honestly think that was the performance of a team capable of putting on a long enough winning streak to overcome what was an 11-point gap? We have quite a few (24) games to go and we have a history of overcoming gaps but never 11 points even when we were much better. Injuries have wrecked what was looking like another title and to lose to what isn’t even a particularly good Liverpool team is galling.

Amazing how many of the slagging off the team posters are missing in action , lol

Well done boys ,i asked for more pressing and hunting in packs to get the ball back and they delivered

Kev i love you

Gundy much better , he is still in there , being with kev takes him up a level

Stefan good again , nice to see him booting the ball away rather than trying to do an eddie with his foot work

I actually saw signs of it throughout the game Forrest have had a pretty mean offence and Wood has been banging them in on a regular basis, of course there are a few rough edges to smooth off and few tactical tweeks here and there but we played really well against a good team
