We really can't catch a break this season when it comes to injuries. I thought once again Ake was stand out at the back, just so composed and strong in 1v1's. When we think about the difference in him and Gvardiol its easy to note how far Ake is ahead of him as he's so solid, but you forget how poor he was earlier at City. I remember thinking he would never be good enough for City, it just takes time i guess. Gvardiol is such a strange player, clearly an absolute athlete but uses his body poorly when in 1v1's, just not strong enough and not focussed enough to do what's needed at the right time. Generally his passing has been amazing for us, breaks the lines really well, but at the moment he's doing everything wrong - maybe just needs to take a breath and go back to the basics with simple passes for now.
I thought KDB looked completely different to what we've seen from him since the treble season, actually looked like he could move last night and some of his turns were brilliant - not seen that in a while! You can see Gundo needed that composure around him, as soon as KDB came off he went to pieces for a bit and was just turning into players.
We always give up opportunities, thats never been new for City, but we need to build on something. The biggest issue right now is when we take a step forwards we get injuries and it's hard to build from.
