Nottingham Forest (N) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Good performance overall. First half saw us with plenty of possession along with some nice passing and movement. Forest had a go in that opening 20 mins period of the 2nd half but we looked good. I thought the handball was a pen for us, but who knows nowadays.
As usual the bulk of the Forest chances came from bits of poor play from us rather than great stuff from the opposition. Need to keep this tempo going now until the end of season, might not be a bad one after all.

Since the manager relinquished lots of responsibility, such as player transfers, contract negotiations etc
Large clubs now have directors of football for that side which leaves the "manager" more time to coach, hence the job title change to "coach"
What do you call the proper coaches then if the manager is now called a coach even though he doesn't do any actual coaching?

Excrement performance, enjoyed the day out yesterday. I felt it was more a ‘city crowd’ today, and the crowd got behind the side all game. I think our possession game just subdued the Forest support all game. All credit to Rico as he played very well, and Kova was brilliant. Settled back four working really well, hopefully keep this in place for the rest of the season. Josko is so good. I think we are just so fluent at the moment, not having to look for a pivotal striker. Pep looks like he’s reinventing this side again. Hope some of those fans there today, who don’t have ST, get a ticket for the final.
Bit harsh.

Sadly both were penalties. Since they took the word deliberate out of the handball law it's been a shambles
They haven't

From Laws of the Game

Handling the ball

For the purposes of determining handball offences, the upper boundary of

the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit. Not every touch of a player’s hand/arm with the ball is an offence.

It is an offence if a player:

deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball

and so on.......

In the "good old days" there were instances of a club having a General Manager and a Manager

If a person doesn't coach then he/she isn't a coach
The "coach" will have some input on player recruitment etc and asked for their opinions and thoughts, but their major responsibilities are coaching, tactics and dealing with existing players on a day-to-day basis
The manager role still exists in the lower leagues where there is no director of football

Apart from some unforced errors and mistakes, which there have been many this season unfortunately, i think that was one of our best performances tbh. First half we seemed to have that control back that we've not had in months, Kovacic excellent and i thought again Bernardo looked close to his old self (minus a few lazy passes).

I meant to say Pougatch was all over Palace beating us in the final.

Very fair and balanced is was not.
Atrocious coverage. I watched, but as usual had recorded the game. Watched the prematch stuff back later and wondered if we were actually playing?? It was all Forest.

Expect more of the same Palace bias on final day....

But they have about 5+ coaches that aren't the manager what do you call them. You mean Pep is more like a head coach which in most people's terminology is a manager

And at last the fuckin' players have listened to the Score a Goal at the Beginning and At the End Coach, and the set piece coach!

The first half was, the second half wasn’t and I think that’s why Pep didn’t look overjoyed at the end of the match being the perfectionist that he is.

The errors need cutting out. Like you say they have been in evidence all season. We have had bits of luck in the last few games (post saving us) which have helped but the errors are still there. It’s like they lose concentration at key times. Hopefully 1/2 more players are back in the next few weeks and we get better still. We have improved a lot but we need to see it out now, win the cup and get top 5.

Early goal was big as it scuppers their whole game plan. I have been critical of our play, lineups etc but it has been refreshing watching us play on the front foot, attack with purpose and close to playing like a City team. Even if we lose that way I can live with it, but it feels Pep has (finally) found a solution to the problems we have faced. We still look a bit dodgy at the back at times but being more productive going forward balances that out. I am just enjoying watching us again so keep it up until the end of the season blues

To all the blues who made the trek down to our southern base, I doff my cap to you. You sounded brilliant. I hope you all have a stress free journey back home, and arrive back home in one piece, tired but happy.

Thank you! Relatively stress free but tiring. Needed a couple of sleeps and strong coffees at service stations on the way back. Only found courtesy from Forest fans on Tube and service stations. Fair play.

City played some great football yesterday. Kovacic was brilliant and owned the centre of the park. He was everywhere, right place, right time every time. Bernardo superb alongside him, ran and ran. So pleased for Rico. That advanced position suits him. Marmoush and Nico O quality. Aside from one give away, Josko was mint at the back. Him and Ruben rock solid.
