NY Eve - Plans?

I hate New Year's Eve - it's 'just another day' to me. I'll probably go to bed about 5 past midnight.

A small friends and family party - unfortunatley I agreed to host it! Fuck!! Just looking now at cocktails to make, as the missus said snakebites and turbo shadies aren't????

Suppose I'll have sort some food out as well?
Any recommendations welcome...
Just offer them a Blue Lagoon or WOO WOO, if they want anything else tell them to fuck off... unless they want a Gold Digger, just give them a bottle and the bottle of Coke to swig from.

Best thing for food is get a piece of pork or beef and do hot roast butties late in the evening with some salad
Obviously stick a few dips out like humous, cheese and chive with Doritos and cheese sticks

I can't stand New Year's Eve either. Auld Lang Syne genuinely makes me want to cry. I always make sure I'm in bed by 11 and avoid the bull shit. I like New Year's Day though, there is the relief that another NYE has been successfully negotiated and it does genuinely feel like a bit of a fresh start to me.

Fuck all.

Waste of time and a waste of money. What it the point in celebrating a type of measure of time ending? It's pointless. Just an excuse to pay over the odds for stuff and get leathered.

I'll be at home with my lad in bed and me on the playstation and will go to bed at quarter to 12 to miss all the shit.

Save money for a day of the lash for the derby.

£50-100 to get into a rammed confined space where you queue up to an hr for drinks while you sweat profusely as the heat has been turned up to encourage people to spend more on liqour. You finally get drinks and before you even had a chance to sip them some plonker bumps into you spilling the contents of your glass all over your new shirt and shoes. Causing you to rejoin queue for another hr only to be told you need to go down stairs as they have run out of your prefered drink. So you end up sweaty, dodging pools of vomit and spilled drinks only to find that downstairs is no longer serving drinks and you need to go to Room 2 which is no where to be found. So you stumble out the club frustrated and sober even though you spent £100 on drinks that ended up on the floor to find an even longer queue for taxis which are charging double/triple time as its "New Years day." Only to end up having to put some drunken idiot into a sleeper hold because the liqour in his system has made him feel he is brave and strong enough to push you out of the way and jump into your taxi.

Or

Stay at home, having during the day bought whatever drinks I want for the night. Invite some company, put on my tracky bottoms, a tshirt and some slippers. When company arrives just watch a DVD have some drinks, chill and then probably just watch the fireworks come midnight before heading to bed to sleep or fornicate.

Its an easy choice for me.

Staying in with baby and the missus. And kind of glad about it - saving myself a fortune in entry fees and taxi fares. Although TV is really bad, might grab a film or something. Will save the pennies for the FA Cup match and have a few then instead.

A friend of mine actually picks up any mates on New Years Eve who need it, and charges a couple of pints each. He doest buy a pint usually until February.

Was pissed off enough at having to pay £3 entry on Christmas Eve. No buffet or DJ, but it was for charity. Now, I don't mind giving £3 to charity if it is my choice, hell even if it were going to pay the door staff who keep out the idiots at this time of the year, but being told I have to in order to gain entry to a pub? A bit off.

Wonder if they will be charging for end of the world parties next yea too?
