A small friends and family party - unfortunatley I agreed to host it! Fuck!! Just looking now at cocktails to make, as the missus said snakebites and turbo shadies aren't????

Suppose I'll have sort some food out as well?
Any recommendations welcome...

What's not 'cocktail' about snakebite ?? She's off her rocker..

Exactly what I said...put an Umbrella in, slice an orange and a curly straw, you'd sell em a £5.95 a glass in one of them fancy bars on Canal street.

NYE is a wankest night where all the wankers go out and get wankered

I staying in and having a massive wank

Few years back, me and the ex stayed in and watched Observe and Report; a shit film with that curly haired guy from knocked up in it.

We fell asleep at around 10pm. That's probably the best NY's eve i've ever had.

Proper over-rated shithouse of a night. Well expensive too. Might be a house party this year, so it could run the Observe and Report one close.

I've figured out how to miss it, if you're up for many hours flying and spending a shit load of cash:

As long as we get to Sydney by 12pm on 31st to catch our connecting flight to LA, we will be just fine. At 12pm in Sydney it will be 5PM on the 30th in LA. The flight time is 15 hours so by the time we land in good old LA it will be 10am on the 31st, 7am on 1/1/12 in Sydney. What we do then is catch the reverse flight at 12pm on 31/12 from LA, landing in Sydney at bang on midnight on 3/1/12. By this time it will already have been New Years eve here in Blighty, so we catch a flight home and cheat time. At no point will we have crossed the timeline to hit midnight 1/1/12.

Or we could just go to bed here at 10pm and wake up the next day.

staying in for the first time, I've always knew NYE is the most overrated evening ever but always went out nevertheless, not this year.

I always hated seeing those people you never see out throughout the year who approach you and say "Hi Charlie, I haven't seen you for ages, are you still going to City?" I always feel like saying "OF COURSE I'M STILL GOING TO CITY, LIKE I HAVE FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS AND IF YOU CAME OUT MORE THAN ONCE A FUCKIN' YEAR WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO HAVE THIS CONVERSATION EVERY FUCKIN' YEAR, NOW FUCK OFF YOU BORING ****"!! but I never do.

Staying local with Mrs H, paid £20 a ticket for a 3 course meal and a bit of entertainment, no queues at the bar etc and none of your usual shite knocking about town centers.
If I was single I wouldn't even bother, hate 'NYE' , always have, but the great feeling the next day that it's all almost another year away is really relaxing and worth it.

15 of us in a box at the O2 Arena to see Kasabian. I never usually make a big thing out of NYE because it's overpriced and usually half empty but I'm making an exception to see one of my favorite bands for the first time.
