What is this you are saying.

They have been talking about the philosophy of football style etc. that City will play since they first arrived at the club. There is nothing NEW about this.

NYCFC have appointed Tim Pernetti, former Director of Athletics at Rutgers as Chief Business Officer. Reyna will run the football side and Pernetti the business side. Both report to CEO Soriano.

Txiki - "We want to win but we also want to win in a certain style. We want to play possession based attacking football here like Pellegrini does in Manchester. We have our philosophy of football and we sign the managers based on that, Jason is a good fit for us"

Txiki - "Jason will come over to Manchester and work with Patrick Vieira and Manuel Pellegrini, to help us learn from each other."

Kreis - "This is a group of extremely impressive men, what they've achieved in Barcelona and Manchester speaks for itself. The choice to come here wasn't just a no-brainer but was an opportunity that I couldn't let slip away".

Kreis - "I know that the expectations are there and I don't shy away from them. We're expected to win and we will win."

Soriano - "We don't have a quota of trophies to win but the most important thing is how we play. We don't want to win without playing the kind of football that we want. The resources for NYCFC are there and they will share knowledge and data with MCFC"

Kreis - "I'm quite certain that NYCFC will sign 3 designated players. They will be well vetted to ensure that they fit our philosophies, the badge on the front is more important than the name on the back".

Reyna - "We have 36 scouts working at the moment for us. We will look all over the country first, in the expansion drafts and within other MLS teams but we will also look internationally"

Kreis - "We will find new players for this league, new creative, attacking type players that fit into the City way of playing. We will bring in new players that will bolster the league"

Reyna - "It was very important to us to have an American coach, one who had knowledge of the league and the players they were competing against"

Kreis - "I'm not affected by the pressure here, we have to start playing the right way before winning and the experience around this table understands that. We have to be patient".

Reyna - "NYCFC will create it's own identity, it's a Club for the people of New York but we won't shy away from using the incredible sports science and development resources that Manchester City have. We're extremely proud to be in one of the Five Boroughs and this team will have a New York feel."

Reyna - "MLS is growing at an incredible pace. We believe in the future of soccer in this country...this upward trend will only continue....maybe one day we can make NYCFC one of the elite Clubs in the entire world"

Soriano - "We would never choose a manager who didn't share our philosophies and the type of football that we want. Pellegrini in Manchester and Jason here. We want to keep the ball, play wide and recover the ball fast. We sign the managers who want to play this football"

Soriano - "Having more than one team in a city is beneficial to the teams. There's another team in Manchester - I can't remember their name now - and Manchester is a smaller city. NYC can support two MLS Clubs"

Reyna - "We will have an Academy here, we're in the beginning stages of strategy/planning but we will have an Academy, probably 2 or 3 or 4 years down the road. It's critical to us to have new homegrown talent coming through here and the resources that Man City can offer us in this area can only help us. We want to also build a relationship with the local youth Clubs and the local coaches, there is a passion in the youth game here to learn more and we will link our Academy into the first team"

MLS is probably in par with Championship/SPL level, maybe a little better than that at this point and rising. It wouldn't be a bad option if that's what it becomes.

Jason Kreis is the ideal man for the job. At Real Salt Lake he used a fluid 4-4-2 diamond system. He beliefs in keeping the ball and playing offensive football.

I'd disagree - its not on a level with the Championship. Been to several games live and the standard really is quite poor. Took me aback actually - its really noticeable. Some cracking atmospheres though, particularly at the Sounders.

Some rumours after the meeting says that the training campus and sports dept offices are likely to be in Westchester County which is an area north of The Bronx with a population of about a million spread out among a fair number of wealthy communities, it´s an area where the accountants might gang up on the lawyers if you follow my drift.

Located less than 15 miles north of New York City, Westchester County is a densely populated area with lots of parkland and public golf courses. The best-known golf course in the county is Winged Foot, a private club that has hosted 11 U.S. Open golf tournaments

Surely there is some great potential FFP benefit here ?

If NYCFC are going to use our scouting network MCFC can we bill them a fee for same ? Likewise a salary split/contribution/management charge for those individuals with dual roles like Marwood, Txiki, etc would mean a lessening of the impact of their salaries on our FFP related spending

If NYCFC players come over to use our medical or training facilities we could do the same and then if we go there for exhibition games, we can charge them a fee. Players going on loan to NYCFC - we can then charge a loan fee for the privilege

I'm sure it's not one the principle reason for NYCFC which I recognise is part of a much bigger picture and I acknowledge UEFA can arbitrarily decide how much of any monies paid by NYCFC to MCFC will qualify for FFP purposes, but there must be some potential benefit here

I will say one thing after watching all that. Soriano kept going about about "The City Football Group" being the parent of both City and NYCFC.

I think they're creating a global brand which they'll localise at different Clubs around the world. City will be the English side of the City Football Group. NYCFC will be the American side of the City Football Group. It wouldn't surprise me if in 20 years we had 10 different clubs under that umbrella, all playing in the blue and white and all sharing data/technologies with each other.

It will be fascinating to see how it plays out but surely we can't own teams that may end up playing against each other ? Which means no more clubs in the Americas or Europe. Perhaps the Middle East and the Far East but beyond that, where else could you do it ?

Plus I'm not sure you could re-brand an existing club and there aren't many countries like the US where you can just create a new team from scratch that plays in the top flight of that respective country

Don't forget however the women's soccer in the US is huge, much bigger than in Europe. We've seen big investment in the last few months into our local ladies team - one assumes doing that with NYCFC will be on the agenda

We could potentially buy or create a club in South America, Africa, Japan/Australia and the Middle East without competition.

Maybe we could legally wrangle it like Udinese do to own more than one in Europe?

There may actually be an opportunity in places like Argentina with our connections and their desire to attract foreign investment to compete with the strengthening Brasilian league. In fact, a club like Villa San Carlos would be a perfect acquisition: just promoted to the second division, based in an area of Buenos Aires which has mostly European descendants, has quite a lot of room for growth, already plays in similar colours, and who have an ownership group that would jump at the invesment.

It is far off, mind, but just an example of how it could be done. Not implying we would go for that team in particular but I wouldn't put it last our management team to consider such investment.
