Oasis reunion

I wouldn't call supply and demand a capitalist concept, it's basic economics.
Whatever. You get the point though. Prices change depending on demand already, we get that.
Usually though the price shown is what you expect to pay. It’s what was advertised.

That isn’t the case in how this was handled.
I think there is something unethical if not illegal in advertising face value and changing it after someone has queued and is ready to pay.

I don't agree with the poster that it was the right time for them to reform but Noel could've put in an appearance separately from Liam. Liam didn't turn up until later that evening as he was doing his festival slot in Germany so they could've both played and not even had the misfortune of bumping into each other.
But he was on a family holiday at the time. Who knows what could've been going on in his family at the time? Who knows the reason why he was on a family holiday? I know I've been for a break in North Wales on occasions and for all and sundry, was having a nice family trip. Only me and my ex knew at the time that on one occasion, she was going through a breast cancer scare and another, I was spending time with my Dad whose brother was being held hostage in Syria.

I'm happy to pile in on Liam and Noel doing nothing at all about fans sitting for 6, 7, 8 hours queuing for tickets they believed were £120 only to get to the front of the queue and find out they'd gone up by £200 with no warning. But I'm not happy to have a go at them for something I know fuck all about. They may be celebrities but people have lives of their own and have their own reasons for doing what they do.

Noel and Liam are ultimately responsible for allowing dynamic pricing with these tickets. The buck falls with them. I don't blame them for it as they have taken advantage of the system which is currently in place, to allow them to earn more money.

I strongly disagree with the principal of dynamic pricing for concert tickets. I feel even more strongly against how it was implemented on Saturday.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Kind of what I said about the dynamic pricing.

What I am finding hilarious is that other stars are coming out against dynamic pricing AFTER they benefited from it themselves.

It's one big smelly trough :)

Fair enough. I don't think they ever became popular because they were against the corporate machine though. For me, they became popular because they knocked out a shit load of great music, particularly on the first 2 albums. I seem to recall the build-up to the release of their third album was hyped up way beyond the first two so they were playing the corporate game a hell of a long time ago.
Definitely the music was the major part.

But they fact they were normal, relatable lads was definitely part of the reason why they became such a phenomenon.

I remember that third album well, they released it on a Thursday as a "fuck you" to the industry, and it was still the fastest selling album of all time.

They made great play in the 90s of charging affordable prices for tickets and not glad handling with the industry in the US.

I appreciate times change and like I say, don't begrudge them a huge payday whatsoever.

But I think the short-term cashing in and ripping off the fans is a really short sighted move.

Last week millions of people were buzzing they were back together. This week, many of those are calling them out for being greedy and ripping off their fans.

Not sure what price you'd put on that.

You’re one of the best posters on here. I haven’t agreed with you always but you always back up your views well.

Think this is spot on mate.

I was surprised just how excited I was by the reunion announcement, but I think everything since then has been a master class in how not to do it...

- Outside of the brief statement, there has been no further comment or interview with either of them.
- No one knows what the full band line up will be. Yes, the Gallagher's are the driving force behind the band, but as they're billing this as an Oasis reunion I think it's pretty strange the full lineup wasn't announced at the same time.
- The communication or lack of, around the pre-sale ballot and timings was appalling.
- The well publicised 'dynamic' pricing shambles, which nearly everyone attempting to buy tickets was unaware of before hand
- No subsequent comment or acknowledgement from either brother.

I was very fortunate to get tickets, and I say this as a long term fan of the band, but if I'd missed out on tickets in these circumstances I'd probably be firmly of the 'they can go fuck themselves' stance.

Maybe neither of them care, but given all the Oasis social media comments in the build up about cracking down on re-sale prices and promotion of the twickets link up, it really leaves a sour taste that its the band that have been the ones to screw the fans over.

As someone alluded to earlier do you think theses actually give a fuck what the fans think, like everyone says they are just lads from an estate in Manchester and if the attitudes they still have to authority and the fuck yous they give I don’t think they’d have gone far in the world had they not become what they are. They’ll take your money happily because they know there are a lot of mugs and they are literally laughing all the way to the bank. They’ve not got back together for the fans it’s pure money (which I don’t blame them), but stop thinking they give a fuck about you because they really don’t and never have.
