Still there at 5-1 on, however the John Terry to Man City isn't. It went from 10-1 into 11-2 the other day.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Barcelona President Joan Laporta has confirmed that Manchester City have made a tasty offer to rag Euro nemesis Samuel Eto'o...

At the studio's of iCatfm, Catalunya Radio, the likeable Barca top man revealed today that Eto'o 'has had a stratospheric offer from City that if he accepts, will make him the best paid player in the world.'

Laporta went on to say that Eto'o would like to stay at the Nou Camp but City's would be a difficult offer to refuse. Furthermore, he added that were Eto'o to leave, then Barca would continue to pursue David Villa, remarking that Villa and Eto'o would be "perfectamente compatibles."

This backs up the stories knocking around the Vital MC Forums that Barca have accepted City's offer for the brilliant striker.

More news on Vital MC as soon as we get it...

It's pronounced E-TOE, yes.

No it's not, it's pronounced Eh'too.

I don't want to be arsey but you're plain wrong. The apostrophe is after the first O iin Eto'o because in French, which is the official language in Cameroon, that indicates that the emphasis falls on the first and not the second vowel. Basically, his name is Eto, the second o does not need to be there, it's just one of those things with spelling, like the unpronouned 'u' in colour.

It is pronounded E-TOE. I can already see everyone mispronouncing it as etoo, chanting 'etoo etoo etoo' when he scores like the rags used to do 'ruud ruud ruud', and him thinking we're being racist about him and retiring early!!!

Methinks Mr. Laporta should keep his trap shut if he wants this deal to go through, characterising Eto'o as a greedy bastard in the press is hardly conducive to getting it moved through. Also, didn't this guy say a few weeks ago that he's definitely not leaving? They're all the same these continental club execs, they twist and turn.

French is indeed the lingua franca in the Cameroon, but his name is an African Tribal name, pronounced Eh'too. The apostrophe in Eto'o signifies the slight pause in the mother tongue - eh-to-oo, if you will. Which, when you say it like that, sounds very much like another 'Latinifiaction' of the same African Tribal name, ETUHU.
