How about this for a potential way out?

City (well ADUG) pay his loyalty bonus (or preferably just a fair chunk of it). But we don't pay it to Sammy. We pay it to UNICEF or one of the African charities that he favours.

City get player. Player doesn't look quite as greedy. Charity benefits and ADUG/City are immediately linked with something worthwhile in the midst of that obscene sea of cash.

We say we want to make him a focal point for Cameroon/ Africa already anyway and that would be a hell of an opening gambit. It could even tie in with the anniversary of MVF's death

Come on. Eto'o is nicknamed the gold digger because he's the african that has always chased the money. If he came to Ciy, he wouldn't play for the shirt like Tevez would. He is a sulker, has rows with Laporta, Guardiola all the time and had a massive fallout with Ronaldinho. If he does come, i for one will not be getting his name on the back of my shirt, he is an arrogant, egotistical money grabbing man.

Cannot comment on anybody else, because we aren't after a player with white skin who is asking for astronomical wages. It was just a tongue in cheek comment. But all of the players i mentioned are greedy than most. I'd have commented if he was white, black, red, green or blue. It doesn't really matter when a player is hanging on a deal because of his greediness, i will comment on that.
