But there could still be a glimmer of hope for City after it emerged Nou Camp president Joan Laporta will do his utmost to force the transfer through after being incensed by Eto'os stance.

There will be further developments later today towards a compromise. Cook is talking with Laporta first thing in the morning.

It's not over.

amazing, he's totally re-written what he said earlier. or has he. dunno. he's got a different take on the whole bonus issue to all the other journo's, I thought the whole point was that Laporta wanted eto'o to move of his own accord because he was already contractually entitled to a loyalty payment of 10m if he stayed, and eto'o was gonna claim that money from barca if he could show it was their intention to sell him.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Barcelona sign Keirrison to secure Villa?

Barcelona has this afternoon competed the signing of Keirrison from Brazilian side Palmeiras. The fee is set to be in the region of £13m and potential add-ons of another £3m.

We understand that Keirrison could be immediately loaned out to Valencia as part of the proposed deal to take David Villa to the Camp Nou.

Valencia want around £45m for the Spanish International, but could accept £40m plus the Keirrison on loan for next season.

Seems Barca are getting ready to get rid of Eto'o....all this will just be his agent trying to get more wages from city or a contract extension from Barca

Let's hope so.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

They will have to sell Eto'o to get the money for Villa. They need to get rid of Eto'o now when they have the big offer. They need to look at this situation long term. If Eto'o leaves on a free next season, they have lost out on alot of money. Barca need Eto'o to go, as they will replace him with someone in the same class.

It sounds like the Daily Mail reporter has completely got the wrong end of the stick. To the point that even the headline contradicts itself.

They've offered him a contract extension but it doesn't match City's wage offer and it is no improvement on what he is already being paid. Here's an analogy. If, for arguments sake, there was only one year remaining on Elano's contract and if he were offered an extension on exactly the same salary that he is already on, he would prefer to go on hunger strike to signing on those terms. Its humiliating apart from anything else. If it's true that Barca have made a offer but it's regarded as being a piss take or derisory, it makes suggest that the Mail reporter has the right end of the stick after all. It is all as clear as mud atm..
