Official - City end interest in Eto'o [merged]

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

The thing about this whole saga is. The player is more than willing to come, if he gets his money. Barca DO NOT want eto'o in their shirt next year and have just been unprofessional in how theyre handling it. They have obviously been pushing the player and getting in his ear for a few months "we have an offer from city accept it" etc. They are partly to blaim in all of this. An agents job is to make as much money for eto'o as he can and he has obviously seen a little technicality in the situation which has halted negotiations. Lets just wait and see what happens tomorrow at the press conference. Its fairly predictable whats going to happen either he is going to go ahead and say he wants to stay, or city and Barca are going to have to fork out the money. This is one situation where the player is holding all the cards. People seem to think Barca are in a win win situation. They are not. They want our money desperatley because Laporte is trying to impress his fans with a big signing. Theirs more than a few Barca fans in Spain who think Madrid are going ahead with promises and are going to romp in the title this year, without a big signing for Barca.

even if eto turns us down in the press conference,it doesnt mean he doesnt want tto come he is just playing hard ball with barca to piss them off lol

Wishful thinking.

seriously, I've been following this for 14 hours now. the papers are confused, we're certainly confused. I've gone from high to low to high to whatever. Not one person really understands the situation, or meaning of the agents comments even if they do look bad. Alera is wrong to talk about it as if it was all over already. dave may not be wrong, certainly a few barca fans seem to think this is about Eto'o sticking the knife in before he moves. Me, I dunno. We'll just have to wait and see what tommorow brings.

Bizzbo,

sorry about the misunderstanding. 100% my fault. I thought you meant the opposite of what you wrote. Thanks for the PM.

Nobody seems to know enough about this so called loyalty bonus. Why is it described as a "loyalty bonus" if the only way it is ever payable is in the event that the player proves "disloyal? That would be a penalty clause not a loyalty bonus.
Will Spursmad or one of the other ITK's address this because for obvious reasons, it is likely to make one hell of a difference to the final outcome. I've pasted a link below quoting one of our rag friends. He seems to be suggesting that it is commonplace and a reward of one year's salary goes to players completing the full term of their contract. If Barca and Eto have tinkered with that, then Barca would be pretty desperate to get rid of Eto. Otherwise, they would not only stand to miss out on a substantial transfer fee but also have to pay an additional £13 million if Eto completes the full term of his contract. The bastard media have again been bone idle on this point. I haven't once heard it raised as a possibility.

And here is how that works with Newcastle.

Etoo is just a greedy bastard who doesn't deserve to pull on a City shirt. Let us move on...

Originally I was not happy about this hitch. But its becoming increasingly obvious in the past 24 hours what this guy is all about. Stay well clear imo. The lad id be going after now is Villa. I know he wont want to leave Spain but we can do no harm but try. Its obvious what the meeting a few months ago with us and Barca was about. "Help us get Villa and well give you Eto'o". Well Barca maybe you should learn how to keep your mouth shut and not flap about deals to the press, an amatures mistake.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Loyalty Bonus

Okay, il take some time before i head on out to try and explain it as far as i have it understood. Eto'o will only recieve the loyalty bonus if he is sold but still wants to stay at Barcelona (Thus forced out of the club) However, if he leaves on his own terms and is happy with a move to City because of the high wages lets say, then he does not recieve the loyalty bonus.

Laporta: "Stratospheric offer" That is too good to refuse.

Laporta trying to make it look like Eto'o is leaving on his own terms for a big contract

Agent: Eto'o likely to Stay

Agent trying to push the issue that the player would like to stay so it looks like hes being forces out

Barcelona: Fine, if you want to stay so much, heres a new contract on the same wages.

They know he won't accept the terms but the offer was there, so he cannot say he wanted to stay.

They are both playing games right now but if some sort of agreement is made (Which i would say is a high possibility) then he will become a Manchester City player. However, expect very carefully selected words from His agent at 10AM this morning because he wants it to be percieved that he wanted to stay at Barcelona, I can actually see the Press conference not clearing anything up and just further games from Eto'os Agent.
