Official - City end interest in Eto'o [merged]

Cant see any going back on this!

Cooke earlier in the day prepared us with the "some wont come" line in the MEN.

If City have officially ended their interest then I believe them!

Fair fucks to GC, this is a brilliant move and one we cant loose by. After the Kaka "egg on face" scenario it was imperative that we come out of future dealings with a bit of dignity and our reputation in tact. Eto'o would have been amazing but I would swop Eto'o for Terry & Lescott anyday.

If Barca do come back with their tails in between their legs then the ball will be in our court. Funnily enough they need the money a lot more than we do!

I'm delighted we pulled out of this one. It also gives encouragement in relation to the Terry bid, why would we still be in there if we didnt think we had a chance? Onwards and upwards, its going to be a brilliant summer!

i tell ur what guys,i am seriously strating to question hughes pulling power so to speak, cant help thinkin if we had a high profile manager these deals would have been done and dusted now,ill be honnest im gutted to fook about eto,i know we have been seen to pull out,but if were honnest he never wanted to come here, and were gona be made to look fookin idiots again in the press, and has anyone had the thought that the chairman may get a bit pissed of missing out on these deals, and if this continues hey may have second thoughts about our big "project".

God i fookin hope not,,,,ctid

Have now been given a snippet of an update re my earlier post.

It's on. Both Barca and Eto's lawyer/agent are now negotiating some sort of severence deal.

His agent has told City that Eto'o does want to come to us - he is the only point of reference both clubs has needed so far.

Although, a low level in the food chain at City in terms of sources (and, by that, not a direct board member/tea lady etc), he's good for it.

Has also heard later this afternoon that some press may have got wind of something for tomorrow, but he is only passing on third hand info with regards this at present.

It's the final of celeb masterchef tonight - hate that po-faced cow who used to be in corrie - so along with eating my chippy tea - will try to get on later tonight.

No PMs please, will continue to post any info in the public forum for everyone to weigh up for themselves.

CTID

p.s - can anyone sense a degree of excitement on my part? In Lay Man's terms - I'm fookin' foaming out the mouth and praying Ewan Thomas wins celeb masterchef with a bavarois of vanilla and pecans.

Oh, and Sammy boy playing in sky blue!

OMG I bet you feel like a CNUT now!

Something to add to the mix.
City Pull out, so Eto is in Limbo, can't stay at Barca, No one else in for him.
Suddenly his agent comes back to City and says he will sign were's the contract.
Are we forcing Eto's hand?
Cookie may be Mr Poker Face

if this is true then it would be good but i verry much doubt it, i just hope there is news soon on the plan b and that it is a wourld class player

Do we need another forward if we get tevez?
Seeing as we've no Europe this year? If they can stay fit, Bellers, RSC, Tevez have all proved they can do it the premership, with Robbie who can play up front, and jo who can be brought back in emergancys! do we really need anyone?
just a thought

and Bojinov, who was apparently looking sharp as a razor and well up for it in training the other day

i forgot the boj!!!!
you forgot big phil as well who chipped in with a few

Well done City! Disappointed not to get him, but delighted we decided how this transfer story went. This is where we become big enough to start dictating to the football world.

Mate if you noticed etoo scores many goals but against english teams hes not that good, maybe against the rags who scored one because of vidic but did you see the chelsea match who wasnt there.

And he also doesnt have good composure, he would scored 36 a season but miss 20 if you see some of the seasons highlights and that could be effective against teams ala blackburn and bolton but not for top 4.

We also need someone who would play for the badge, play with his heart on his sleeves, not for the damn money.

He's hardly palyed against English teams ans never in a league situation so i don't buy that. Doesn't have good compuse? Mate you're looking at a differnet palyer than i am, he scored in the CL final, against an English team how much more composure do you want!?

Playing for the badge? You mean like Terry, or Kaka... face it any "marquee" signing is coming primarily at this stage for the money. We'll just win them over once they get here, a la Robinho.

I dont think Robinho will be happy with this.....

I wouldn't worry too much about that mate, Garry was at his wedding yesterday so I am sure he is fully briefed as to what our plans are and why we pulled the plug. ;)
