City 16/1 for the FA Cup.....might be worth a punt.

i saw that, thought it was well worth a go, double it up with the carling cup, i may do a double and two single.might add the league and do a patent:)

It would make a very good patent if you could find somewhere to take it. The best odds for both cups are with Skybet and they don't allow you to double them, plus they are worst price for the title at 20s. A lot of the online bookies seem to be restricting multiples in these markets.

yeh but thats just the bookies.

Skybet are the only ones running this market that I know of, and when the rumours first started he was 5/1 to come to us. Then both City and Barca were 6/4, then 11/8 for the last week or so, with other teams 5/1+. This indicated we were seriously in for him but he was 50:50 about coming, and it was still possible teams like United might become interested.

The odds have now changed to 1/5 City, with Barca 3/1 and 12/1 bar. That isn't just because a few City fans have had a bet after reading this thread on Bluemoon. It tells you that he's coming to City unless talks break down at quite a late stage, in which case he stays put. No-one else is in the running.

That is a very significant change, and you are being very naive if you think odds changes like this don't tell you anything.

To be honest, i think your the one that's being naive. Odds reflect betting patterns, and peoples' betting patterns are based on what they read in the newspapers and what they hear on the radio etc. So the root cause of such shifts is the ever so reliable British press, which have us as favourites to get Eto'o. Whether they're right or not remains to be seen. I bloody hope so though.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

It only takes small amouts of money to change the prices in these speciality markets however 11/8 into 1/5 is quite a significant move. Doesn't by any means it's nailed on but does suggest something may be happening.
