Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

If it is a new offer since the press confrence - which I doubt as sky are so far behind they would never have a sniff of it - then its Barcas response to say you want to leave we arent forcing you out.

If its the old news who the hell cares.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Barca HAVE FUCKED IT BY LETTING HIM GO INTO THE FINAL YEAR. tHIS GUY IS WORTH £32 MILLION TO US + HIS SILLY WAGES. We should meet in the middle and offer to pay half the signing on fee. Barca are still getting £20 million for a player out of contract in 12 months....

Samuel Eto'o wants to stay at Barcelona, but will not fight to remain with the European champions if they do not want to keep him, according to the striker's agent.

Premier League outfit Manchester City made a 'stratospheric offer' for Eto'o over the weekend, according to Barcelona president Joan Laporta, which Sky Sports sources understand to be in the region of £25million.

Reports suggest Eto'o, who has one year remaining on his contract at Camp Nou, is prepared to snub a move to England but the Cameroon international's future remains uncertain.

The 28-year-old's representative, Jose Maria Mesalles, is adamant his client wants to continue his career with the Catalan club, but has blasted the Barcelona board for the murky events of the transfer saga.

"The player wants to stay and complete the last year of his contract," said Mesalles.

Professional manner

"If Barca don't want him they should say so, so we can pursue the player's future in a professional manner.

"The club said coach Pep Guardiola did not want him. Guardiola has not told the player he is not required."

Eto'o has a contract with Barcelona until 2010, but Mesalles claims he did not receive an offer of an extension until almost midnight on Monday when the club offered a two-year extension on the same salary.

Mesalles believes that, if Barcelona have received an offer from City they should be open about it.

"If they have a serious offer from Manchester City, and if they want to continue with this negotiation we could be interested," Mesalles added.

"We haven't spoken to City but if Barca have reached an agreement it shouldn't be that difficult to reach a deal."

U do realise thats a complete and utter lie?

Edit: what i meant by this is that WE HAVE alredi spoken to them and agreed a deal hense forth shudnt b hard.. lol...

I realise, just wanted to post the article fot people to read, must admit SSN make me laugh how they select how to report select quotes with their own online articles showing that it isn't completly dead

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Ronaldinho-City-Milan saga springs to mind. Eto's camp is just playing Ronaldinho's role today.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Can't read all posts again but my understanding is that Eto'o wants Barca to come out and admit they have agreed to sell him to City - thus probably activating a substantial loyalty bonus for the player; whilst Barca want Eto'o to say he wants to go - thus saving them the reportedly huge bonus payment. To save face with the fans Barca also offer a further 2 year contract on the same terms; significantly less than he would earn with City; and they know he is driven by money.

Meanwhile City have to:

1. Sit tight and hope the posturing reaches a speedy conclusion one way or another
2. City offer to negotiate pating part of the bonus
3. Walk away and pursue other targets

Certainly the agent has not ruled out a move. Is that it?

And what would you do/should City do?

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

It looks like he has because his agent has come out with a new story that Barca offered him a new 2 year contract by text or email at midnight. He also said that Eto'o wanted to stay but if Barca want him to leave and they have an agreement with us then "an agreement shouldn't be too hard to agree".
