I thought Stevie had a poor game by his standards. And this should tell us something. All players even the best have poor games.

But up he pops with a great goal at the death.

So the next time Richards, Dunne, Robinho don't have great games lets give them support rather than a slagging.

The defence played pretty well considering we didn't have much midfield control.

And well done the ex gooners who both made a massive difference.

Given too. Without him it could have been another embarrassing away day.

The thing that should please us all is the bench. De Jong, Tevez, Petrov, Weiss etc

Its not often he has a poor game though. However im with you on this 1 ;)
i disagree he was asked to do a bit more defensively today and worked his socks off and he took his goal well, very composed, and showed genuine class with his finish and cooln ess under pressure, you must take into consideration the job he was asked to do today and he did it very well

Ok maybe I was a bit harsh on Stevie given the nature of the game. i.e. Blackburn

The real point of my post was actually just to point out that players are not machines and can have off days. So we should cut them some slack when they do.

And a good point you raised is that Stevie was asked to hold back a bit. Other players too may not shine when asked to a job. De Jong springs to mind.

Last year we would have caved in under BFS's long ball aerial bombardment but we didn't this time, we toughed it out. Our weakness last year was teams who played just like this but now we are stronger with players who don't give up. No the defence wasn't rock solid but they stuck to the task and we came a way with the points. If any of the top 4 had come away with 3 pts at Blackburn after playing like we did then the sycophantic brown nose pundits would have hailed it as a great performance. Today bodes well for the future, I'd still like to see a big tall CB at City for when we play teams like this though.

if u watch the game again stevie was in position to score that goal 3 times earlier but the ball never came...it wasnt he was poor it was just we havent gelled yet.

great job...although I'd have won 200 quid with a 3rd goal :-(

I see big fat Sam thinks Blackburn deserved at least a draw, a true arsehole if ever ther was one.

Fat Sam is the limit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope they lose every game but fear they won't. Not a Fat Sam supporter, does it show?

Great start, we would have lost or drawn this game a year ago.

M.O.M
1ST. Adabayor
2ND. Bellamy
3RD. Barry

overall a great team away performance

some poor passing from our side at times, but that's only to be expected as the team gets to gel...

What I like howeever is the posession stat - 57% us. That is what we lacked away last year a lot, we played as the other team wanted to. Today (2nd half, first half was quite poor on our side, for the most of it) we really controlled the ball and frustrated blackburn by keeping posession and not rushing towards goal.

Barry was excellent today. Never appreciated how good he was at Villa, seem's to play with such ease and does the simple things effectively.
Agreed, he was absolute class! Although, if Hughes tries this formation against a decent side we will get hammered!!
