Offside judgement (Laporte v Wolves)

Lots of blues on here with different opinions.

How come the various officials agree with each other so much?

Human nature means that even referees should have some difference of opinion.

Or is everything pre arranged before the.match?
Five mins after the ref turned up he had given both sides the best of five tosses - we called correctly on four of 'em and Wolverhampton Hyenas only won one. The match went ahead so Laporte's goal could be chalked off and the original tosses result could stand.

Where are the lines on dipper and rag goals , nowhere , just us time after time
Are you a mental? Liverpool fans think var is against them this season as they’ve had 3 of them. They’ve got a thread going on rawk about the var conspiracy against them.

I agree with this to a point, but the thing about offside is that however you define it, you will always have extremely tight calls because it's a line decision. The major problem with offside seems to me that because the frame speed isn't necessarily fast enough to show where a potentially offside player is at the precise moment the ball is first touched by the player playing the ball to him, there is a degree of subjectivity about which frame is used when the lines are drawn. Which means that onside goals are made to look offside and vice versa.

I'd be happier, though, if the rule was that the goal should stand unless the VAR can clearly show that it was offside.
Agree that the frame speed is not fast enough. Also the judgement of the bloke in the shed on where to place the lines is a joke. Surely they could use technology to make all of these decisions maybe with some programmed margin of error in favor of the attacking team. That way at least the decision would be fair in that it would be the same for all teams, without the possibility of human bias (either conscious or subconscious).

It helps that 99% of them understand the law and its implementation.

Loads of City fans still think the line is to the top of the shoulder for a start.

Although they don’t all agree anyway, see var thinking United should have had a penalty and the ref saying no after a look. Same with Liverpool in the prior game last week.

just think what United think of it, after the little outbursts Ole has had this season.

All fans of all clubs think it’s against them as more often than not it rules out goals.

We’re the only side that have had var over turn two incorrect decisions in the last month and therefore been awarded goals. And still our fans think it’s a conspiracy.

Where are the lines on the screen for them ? We just dont see them , the still get close decisions and we the payers dont get to see them forensicly inspected

Oh my god, you’re fucking stupid.

You’re literally mouth breathingly, window lickingly stupid.

As explained in the two links I posted for you, for the purposes of handball (and offside), the upper arm is CONSIDERED PART OF THE BODY.

No in fact you are the stupid one.
Because you give the rule of handball and not for offside.
These are 2 completely different things you should know.

The (and offside) part you wrote, is YOUR DISCOVERY.
It is NOT mentioned at all in the article. Prove me wrong. I challenge you.

I will repeat what is the official FIFA rule in order people to not be deceived with your false interpretations:

So ARM DOES NOT count for offside position!

I’ve realised what’s going on, you’re not smart. You think you’ve discovered some amazing truth and you are the sole arbiter of this truth and that you suddenly know better than IFAB and the PL and that all season every game has been erroneously officiated rather than the simple fact that you don’t understand the law and it’s interpretation.

From IFAB, the part in GREEN IS NOT CONSIDERED PART OF THE FUCKING ARM

As ESPN explain for people that aren’t able to work it out for themselves (ie you):

However, a knock-on effect is that the attacker's body is now extended for offside decisions. So while this fixes part of the problem, it's created a new one. Additional goals will disallowed when a player is running or leaning with the arm extended.”

Imagine not knowing that things discounted for offside are only things you can’t score with (hands and arms) then when presented with a graphic showing what is and what isn’t handball, not understanding how that effects what can and can’t be given for offside. I’m actually embarrassed for you.

Well they are equally wrong interpreting this too. The rule change for what is considered "arm" was only for handball offence.
IFAB clearly has this on the clarifications of the law changes for this season.

We can use FA also to show this if FIFA is not enough:

OFFSIDE
A player is in an offside position if:
  • any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents’ half (excluding the halfway line) and
  • any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent
  • The hands and arms of all players, including the goalkeepers, are not considered.

HANDLING THE BALL

A direct free kick is awarded if a player commits any of the following offences:
  • A handball offence (except for the goalkeeper within their penalty area)
For the purposes of determining handball offences, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit.
