Offside rule changed after Silva's goal against Villa

When he received the ball he was running towards the goal so she did not flag thereby allowing VAR to make the decision if Berny scored but he ended up near the dead ball line and started to go back. At that point Bernies attack had ended so she flagged, the ref ignored her, Bernie passed it back and the rest is history.
OK it looks simple Bernie passed it, Cancelo scored but what if instead of shooting he passed to Sterling who passed to etc etc who then shoots and we score. How far back does Var go.
Anyway, did you see the look she gave the Ref :-) I get them off Mrs Mist all the time/
I am afraid you are wrong, Bernado was in full control of the ball and had every intention of continuing the attack. The fact he went slightly backward makes no difference, he could have gone on a mazy run round the whole of the WB defence and walked the ball into the net - that would certainly have continued the attack.

Because the attacker hasn’t received the ball from his own player. There is no “unfair”advantage on the other team as they’ve given the advantage themselves from the pass back.
And the moment the defending player plays it, (even if not a back pass) then by the same rule, the attacker is also onside as he receives it not from his own player, n’est-ce pas?

  • If a team completes ten passes between fellow team members, the referee stops play and gives the ball to the opposition.
  • Any corners won by a team leading by two or more goals are immediately changed to a goal kick for the defending team.
  • Any team who scores against Liverpool/United immediately has to withdraw a player and no replacement is allowed.

So if we were to go back to the point where Mings controls the ball with his chest,(if we use the new rules) how long before Rodri can be involved in play without being classed as offside?

he'll be offside for the rest of the game and will have to be subbed off
