I don't think it was anything to do with contract length or money, as you say, he's on a modest contract at Milan. It was simply that he wanted to play football and Mancini was giving him small amounts of playing time.

The thing is, both Yaya and Barry were well below par last season and de Jong would have got loads more playing time last season. So he would have been happy had he stayed with us.

I really miss de Jong, always thought he was a cracking player. Never gave the ball away, was great at breaking play up, was magic in big games for us.
