Always felt safe when he started games for us and me dad pointed out that if a City attacker got whacked that De Jong had clocked it and retribution would follow later on. Not straight away but he'd remember. Loved it when Nigel clattered them fairly but hard.

Nigel played a pivotal role in our FA Cup and League Title success. He played the ball into Sergio before the one-two with Mario lying on the ground. Most players would have hoofed it forward. He is a class act and if it wasn't for Kia the snake he would still be with us.

The year we won the FA Cup (10-11), IMO he was the first name on the team sheet for the second half of the season. Then the following season Mancini went more attacking (for the best, obviously!), meaning DJ was sacrificed.
Ive even seen a suggestion that Mancini sold him because he was becoming too powerful in the dressing room.
Shame, whatever the reason behind his sale.
