Whats so great about the old badge is that its simple and to the point however it has dated slightly and we have moved on..
The problem with the coat of arms and our current badge is that they are too elaborate and not easily indentifiable as manchester city unlike the old badge so how about something along these line:

this is obviously not great but hopefully you can see what im getting at. loose all the frilly stuff and make the eagle more abstract. also if i knew how to do it id have the Manchester City F.C. at the top curved between the wings and maybe a bit bigger....you could also substitute the motto in the middle for the red rose.......or maybe even the 3 stars in case they feel left out :-)

A badge is surely supposed to represent permanence and continuity.

I hate the eagle, I really hate the stars and i hate the "Motto". They're all tacky.

you can't just make up a badge and you can't just make up a motto. They are supposed to be traditional.

Bring back the old badge please, just modernise it slightly.

And our motto should be "Typicalia Cityus"

At the fans forum on Thursday the question of bringing back the old badge was again raised , to which the response was that the club are looking into buying back the rights of the old badge.

Previously I posted some comments about badges on another thread. It included the following paras:

Today, Manchester council own the Coat Of Arms, and MCFC own the current badge plus a version of the red rose badge (hence its use on some merchandise). So any comments about City not owning copyright to this are no longer true (I believe City got them back in 2003).

There's a Government website that allows anyone to search on trade marks -www.ipo.gov.uk/types/tm Have a look at the ones registered by City and by United (they've registered things like 'Pride of the North' as a Trade Mark!)

new badge.... i have grown up watching the greastest team in all the land wearing the badge we wear now, dont get me wrong i like the old one and it would bring back memories for the old faithfull of the good old days but really richest club in the world its time to look forward to the future and guess what the futures all SKY BLUE!

If Greater Manchester doesnt exist, City are not "the only football team to come from Manchester!" because United would also be classed as Manchester and i live in Cheshire so i feel like i shouldnt support City anymore, i should go and support one of the Cheshire teams!

I think that if you are really that foolish you should support Crewe or Macclesfield or Stockport.
