Old Maine Road photos thread

Read somewhere about Middlesbrough fans complaining about getting dogs' abuse from the terraces when visiting Maine Rd (not in the ground - the surrounding streets)

You missed out "clutching our envelopes containing carefully cut out vouchers from home games, and front covers of away programmes"

Happy times.

As I recall, the replay was memorable only because of Harry Dowd's great save from Alex Young. Or was it Jimmy Gabriel?

We'd have won the cup in 65/66 if we'd beaten Everton. One of my favourite City seasons ever.
No vouchers were needed before the final. I had cut the voucher out of the home programme or even the team sheet for reserve matches for years. I always bought two programmes each match, back then, one to cut the voucher from and one to keep.

I never got to use the voucher sheet until 1968-9 and then needed them for three years in a row.

Been meaning to post this. It’s on the wall in my in-laws’ house in Spain. They found it years ago in a car boot sale in Torrevieja and hung it in the spare bedroom we use when we visit!View attachment 78239

Always thought that main stands roof lokked like a packet of fags. Woodbines in those days. Now its Senior Service all round.

I haven't noticed it before but looking at that picture I find it pretty funny that the old main stand doesn't even cover the full length of the pitch!

2 Fags short of a full packet... Typical City!

Its asymetric, did they run out of money towards the end of building it?
