Old Maine Road photos thread

I don't think this can be at Maine Road - the terraces were too high to be overlooked by the houses and the houses are wrong for the area. Perhaps Alexandra Park or Platt Fields?
The write-up came with the pic, no drama..blues know where it is.

Possibly the County ground Brantingham Rd.

Im compiling all these pics with the hope of having one wall of my man cave covered with such nostalgia in one huge print. Greatly appreciate if there any more photos from the surrounding streets on match days from all eras.

I asked Fonso Buller.......he identified them with those names....most I know reckon they're reds...but I've never seen them b4. Long time ago.

Did you see it on the real Guvnors page or one of his many other accounts? Or the beer monsters?

This guy too:

Paul Brookes
Winston shepherd tony Morgan in the middle went my school yew tree both reds

Is Alfonso back in Manchester now? He was living in Falmouth Cornwall for a while, still causing mayhem lol.

Roy Clarke the Cardiff and Welsh international outside left after signing for Manchester City at Maine Road. Also in the picture is Wilfred Wild, the Manchester City Secretary. May 1947.
Didn't Roy Clarke go on to be heavily involved with the running of the social club at Maine Road in later years..?

Certainly did proper gent, ran it with the help of his wife.
Used to love going in there before and after every home game. Always a warm welcome and really felt at home inside. Can still hear the pre match buzz now.
The supporters social club still holds lots of great memories for me.
Fantastic place.

Coventry away kit brown/yella
Is that Coventry City's Mick Coop on the ground ..and I'd guess at centre half Gary Gillespie watching on in the penalty box..not sure tho.

My old fella and his mate took me in there as a kid sat me on piano, fantastic place carried on going in with mates into the 80s great place. Remember winning match ball in Derby once trouble was we’d been stuffed 0-3 Dad chucked it on fire. :-)
