Oldham Athletic thread

They probably have tried - but for the same reason Burnley has a white crowd is the same reason Oldham do too.
We moved to Oldham 4 years ago and have had no major issues. The area within a mile radius of the centre is pretty grim, but slightly further afield, it’s countryside and lovely.

My wife is a governor for 4 local schools. None have been visited by any Oldham players whilst we’ve been here. They absolutely could do more.

They undoubtedly could, but when you see the similar demographic make up in crowds at places such as Burnley, Leicester, Bradford, Bolton, Luton there is clearly more of an issue than attending schools can put right.

Gone proper downhill the market, used to be coach trips to it, now it's all flea market & materials.

The football club has never tapped into the Asian population in the town either and when they're skint etc every paying customer counts.

So true
the Asian population and community should be right involved, also when you see trouble on the streets and gangs of young kids doing fuck all other than fighting rivals gangs is because things like football having closed all the doors to them, Oldham and other towns like them should be getting them (youths) involved and let them become wanted and give them some hope and pride back, a football club is much more than just football it's a community and jobs and a future

To be fair, their new owner (who's big on improving the town as much as the football club) has installed a multi-faith prayer room at the stadium.

Small steps but steps in the right direction of tapping into what could be a huge new market.

Swales could have established one of these, although I suspect there would be more crammed into the prayer room than on the terraces!

Burnley fans flew a plane over The Etihad with "White Lives Matter" on a banner trailing behind it ,just 2 years ago in 2020.
I don't think many Asian people are going to feel welcome with those types of shenanigans going on.
Burnley FC said it was a small minority so-called fans and will deal with it, and they are not welcome anymore
