Oldham Athletic thread

As much I hate the idea of sisters clubs, teams like Oldham and Bury could benefit from city or united taking over
you could have Oldham city or bury united, also gives the big clubs of using the EDS teams in first team football in the lower leagues,
City did just that with Hyde United not so long ago when the reserves played there. Their fans hated it as the club had to drop the United bit in their name and also the seats were changed from red to blue.
As soon as the deal ended, they changed the seats back and the United in their name.

But they are miles away from anything other than non-league teams
they would still be Oldham or Bury, but with a big brother

I reckon if you gave every small town team’s fan the choice between playing in the Championship as a Premier League club’s feeder team or being independent in tier 10 of the pyramid with a bunch of kids playing semi-pro, you’d be looking at about 99% for the latter.

They probably have tried - but for the same reason Burnley has a white crowd is the same reason Oldham do too.
We’ve tried the same and the majority don’t wanna know ........... Valley Parade stands bang in the middle of a huge Asian community I will be amazed that out of a gate of 16,000 there are 100 folk from the local district in fact I would put it down to even less than 50

Sheridan gone. Needed to happen tbh, a decent manager would be walking this league.
He's had an easy ride from most of their fans due to sentiment which is understandble I suppose.
But yeah, I have a couple of mates who are fans and I'd like to see them back in the league.
Tell me you know nothing about Non league football, without telling me you know nothing about it.

That league is an absolute nightmare to get out of at the top. Bankrolled small clubs, ex FL clubs, Phoenix clubs, Bankrolled big clubs.

ONLY 2 PROMOTION SPOTS 1 via playoffs.... it's hard. VERY HARD

Spot on. I've been to loads of City games (Bradford) and fully agree.

There were at least for a time the guys from the 3 singhs restaurant who used to go. They seemed to love it, not sure if they still do?

Same for Rochdale. If you see any Asians wearing football shirts around Spotland and it's surrounds, it's Liverpool or Arsenal.
During World Cups/Euros Argentina shirts are common. 'To wind up Engerland fans' according to my neighbour.
No chance they will support the Dale.
