It looks lovely..?!... what part have you seen?

the outskirts (where i live) is lovely

i'm surrounded by hills and a few resy's

i'm guessing he means closer to the yorkshire border, where i am.

Oh yeah thats different, parts of Lees, Chaddy and Shaw, Delph, Dobcross etc are great, I know them all well... I wouldn't class them as Oldham.
I mean Oldham as in Glodwick, Coldhurst, Crimeside, Alt, Holts, Fitton Hill, Coppice etc... sad places inhabited mainly by 3rd generation workshy, thieving inbred fops..

It's a nice little boozer G . A few sherbets in the sun , and my little 'un buzzing playing on the pub playground . Every one's a winner .
A nice park as well .

The olds used to play bowls there so spent many a time spending sunday avvo's getting smashed watching them, Or when we had the Dog used to walk round the heights and the top of the park before calling in the Church for a well earned slurp, longest dog walks in history.
Go down the Hunt Lane or Boat now, Colliers for football, King George on Hollins Road has thrown up a few treats lately though.

Romeos and Juliets near the round a bout, in the mid 80s was a great place place to pick up fanny. Had a few mad nights in Chaddy squash as well. Even in those days Oldham was always a bit dodgy. Anywhere that has places called Glod dick sholver limeside derker salem and mumps is gonna be pretty hairy.

Romeo & Juliets...
Originally Bailey's, then R&J, Then Butterflies, then Froggies.

My mate had his throat cut with a Stanley knife in Romeo's in the early eighties,he nearly died all because of his accent, we were from Ashton they said he was a Manc.
It's always had it's lunatics, but so did everywhere and as a previous poster said it was full of young ladies up for sex away from the usual family members.
My mums husband follows the latics and he said that the fyc are basically a crime gang disguised as football supporters, there fore-runners had me and my mates trapped in the chieftan on Tommyfield market for a good hour when we played them and it pissed down.
Used to frequent the town centre a bit and there was a club that was v.dodgy called the Candlelight or something, worse atmosphere than the PSV in the early nineties.

Might get lynched for this. But since I turned 18 (about 7 weeks ago) I've been Tokyo's (Tokyo Project) about 5 times. Hear me out, first two times were decent. Then realised they play the same shit every week. It's made me bored of The Stone Roses. Think they average about 6 Stones tunes a night, some of you might think that's great, but they repeat Sally Cinnamon about 3 times.. A NIGHT, and the others vary between I Wanna Be Adored, I Am The Resurrection, She Bangs The Drum and Breaking Into Heaven. It does get boring. The past 3 times I've only been going because its £1 drinks nights on a Friday. Plus its Oldham; the people are shit.

Just got back from the Church Inn . The pub that's in the middle of Chadderton Hall Park . Had five pints of the Black-Stuff while watching my young son playing on the swings/climbing frame/etc in the pub beer garden .
Was a lovely afternoon/evening .

Was in there myself, around 7pm so must have crossed paths.

I was the one drinking Guinness who's head scraped the ceiling when he walked to the bar .

-- Fri Jul 02, 2010 12:09 am --

For the first time I recently went in the King George for a slurp during this fine weather one afternoon . Not a bad gaff , friendly staff/punters and the pint was all right .

i think Owdham is like most other working class towns? Its rough like anyother and the tales of easy women are like anywhere else you vist out of your own town.

The good thing i will say about oldham is like has been disscussed previous the town in a sense is split into two. With the council estates and then the more posh (one for a better word) as in saddleworth. Then you have middle of the road places such as Chaddy and Royton etc etc.

For all its bad points people just need to get themselves up Ripponden Road, Huddersfield Road Lees Road and your into some of the most wonderful countryside hills and views are outstanding. This for me does edge over other towns that do not have these rural attractions.
