But he was way better than Sane, David, and Laporte. The other 3 guys on the left side with him. But I'm sure if I check those threads, you wouldn't have been on any of them claiming they aren't good enough.
Er, because they are???

Laporte has been outstanding all season (Spurs CL leg2 aside). Silva is well, probably they best player ever to pull on a light blue shirt. And Sane is one of the brightest talents in world football, a game changer, a genius.

Zinchenko is a very limited footballer. His footballing brain runs at 0.5 MHz, compared to Silva's 4GHz 10-core. He receives the ball, ponders about for ages, and then passes it backwards 90% of the time. He has little natural ability and is pretty ropey at both attach and defence. But he tries hard. I thought "trying hard" was not the benchmark we aspire to.

Seriously, I don't have a downer on the lad - he seems like a good bloke and he does try. I just don't think he's that good tbh, and for me is an obvious weak point in our team. Left and right backs have been a weak point of ours ever since Zabba went past his prime. Left back we've been weak for donkeys years.

He is good at the following : ball control, passing & crossing

Below average at keeping the ball under pressure & dribbling.

His ball control is one of his weakest points. He's let the ball go into touch 3 or 4 times just this week failing to control simple balls, he's coughed up possession with some awful stray passes too.

I'm afraid this is true. How anyone could have awarded him MOTM today is quite beyond me.

He let the ball run out once from his poor control
The other 3 were from poor right footed passes from Laporte. I am not sure if there was poor communication but I have never seen Laporte pass so many times with his right foot. Zinchenko was bullied out of it today but where are other left backs!!!

Well that's the issue, isn't it? As a squad player and a midfielder who has been thrown into LB, Zinchenko like Delph last season has been absolutely excellent.

However, once you look at him purely as a LB on merit, is he good enough to start for City? He's only getting in the squad as a LB, he's not going to break into the midfield ever, so you have to weigh up having him at LB vs. any other LB we could potentially buy this summer.

I like his attitude, I love that Pep's made a 1.8m signing into a viable LB in a team this competitive, he's had some really good games since coming back into the side in Feb/March, but I'm not entirely convinced he's a going to be a world class LB any time soon.

Personally I think we'll sell Delph, get a proper LB in, and Zinchenko barely play next season.
