He's never going to be a superstar, but the man turned down a great move to Wolves to fight to get into our team, when he'd been benched all season he celebrated like a wildman when we scored in the champions league (cant remember who against) so he gets my respect. And he's won every game he's started in the Premier League :)

Er, because they are???

Laporte has been outstanding all season (Spurs CL leg2 aside). Silva is well, probably they best player ever to pull on a light blue shirt. And Sane is one of the brightest talents in world football, a game changer, a genius.

Zinchenko is a very limited footballer. His footballing brain runs at 0.5 MHz, compared to Silva's 4GHz 10-core. He receives the ball, ponders about for ages, and then passes it backwards 90% of the time. He has little natural ability and is pretty ropey at both attach and defence. But he tries hard. I thought "trying hard" was not the benchmark we aspire to.

Seriously, I don't have a downer on the lad - he seems like a good bloke and he does try. I just don't think he's that good tbh, and for me is an obvious weak point in our team. Left and right backs have been a weak point of ours ever since Zabba went past his prime. Left back we've been weak for donkeys years.
Wtf. He has the potential to be the best LB in the PL

This thread... yikes.

Has everyone forgotten his immense performances the last few months?

He has been rushed back from a hamstring injury. He's not at his best but for me he's our 1st choice lb on merit.

Your dreaming mate. Absolutely dreaming.

I like the lad and also respect him for his work ethic, commitment, loyalty etc. He's been a great stand in for our problem left back position.

But the idea he's an excellent left back, let alone that he could be the best in the league, is just blue coloured glasses.

Is it quiet on the political threads chippy?

An off day is what all can have, its very unfair to criticise so harshly, Laporte mistakes cost us the semi final but does that means he isn't the best defender we have right now? Point is it can happen to anyone, one week youre gushing over one's performance and next week you go over board with criticism.

Anyone got the stats for goals conceded with and without him in the side? We seem to concede fewer, and certainly fewer from down our left side, with Zinchenko at LB compared with others (Delph and Mendy).
