This match made sure that does not need to happen imo. He may not be fast but he is not slow. He moves up the field working the passing triangles (or close to it) and any other method pretty damn well now. I am really impressed by him. He was told he was not wanted i believe? but stuck it out and took his chances. I would go as far as saying he is possible captain material in future. Of course others are to but his attitude put him in that bracket in my humble opinion.
 
He clearly doesn’t want to leave the club and for that and the way he has been playing recently shows the type of spirit he possesses. Still very young and more to come from him hopefully
 
Thought he was outstanding , up against Willian , Pedro and Hudson Odoui today and never gave any of them a sniff.

Was particularly impressed with how he handled a fresh Hudson Odoui coming on against him since he has seemed to gas towards end of games.

A more than capable back up for Mendy once he’s back
 
Defended extremely well, first (or one of the first) times I think we've seen that. I'm impressed. He's come a long way. I used to think he was a nice guy, but not quite at the level he needed to be. Now I'm not so sure
 
Thought he was one of our best players, although it was an admittedly “off” day.

He is growing in to his frame and obviously has an affinity for the club now.

I hope he stays with us for at least a few more years.
 
The fact Zinchenko was my man of the match probably confirms we were not at our best , he was superb and gave Pedro and their wonder kid nothing all afternoon , he has improved this season without doubt and is proving an invaluable squad player , another of Pep's successes he is coaching this lad to be a very decent player.
 
Played great today. Seems to be getting a bit more defensively savvy in terms of positioning and when/where to risk a tactical foul. Might not be as technically gifted as some of the top players but he reads the game well enough to fit into the team nicely with his link up play.

Well, he’s far more technically gifted than Mendy that’s for sure.
