So useless that we abandoned the idea to make him a right-back

We played him there because Zinchenko missed over two months of the season with various injury and personal issues and our other left back is an alleged rapist.

It's got nothing to do with us "abandoning the idea to make him a right back."

Which would explain all those games he played at right back last season.

Brighton's business model is built on buying players who would usually be out of reach with a promise that they can move - essentially a stepping stone.

I'd be surprised if Bloom is stupid enough to price their current star asset out of a move and potentially put players off joining in the future.

(Presuming that's why Zinny is having second thoughts)

Tell me, why for Txiki Beguirstain it's a big problem to sign a natural, left-footed left-back? Why is he having a problem signing anyone but a left-back? Simply I don't get it.

If he wants to stay then so be it, another good player in the squad. But no way should it have any affect on our pursuit of an actual specialist LB as this is our weakest position.

The fee was good for a squad player but I've said it earlier the most important thing is the will of the player and if we are a club that respects that then it will pay long term dividends.

Why don't you just sack him then?
Listen, this is a simple, obligatory transfer for us. It's not a wish. It's weird not to sign a left-back for ages. IMO we need a two natural left-backs, just for a right balance.
