1-0 job done, rested two key players, no need to rush Aguero onto the field to rescue the game. Foden played well again, as did Sterling, this time without KDB on the field. We need more players in midfield able to do that without looking to Kevin all the time.
The attack does need to improve and they did tonight I thought, we need more obviously but it's a step in the right direction. The one thing Olypiacos do well is defend, so it was never going to be easy to score. However, I suppose it was the perfect game to test our attack against a park the bus type team, that didn't seem to have the ability to counter with pace. The quality could have been better at times but there were signs of our attack finding their rhythm in that game, the goal was a fast and fluid, team goal. That's exactly what I wanted to see.
It's something to build on in the Burnley game, add in KDB, with the option of Aguero off the bench and I think we can take it up a gear or two.
At the same time, I didn't feel like uncomfortable being 1-0 up either, even when they did start to attack. I generally wouldn't against most teams with our best defence on the field this season. So without jinxing it, I think we're starting to add that trait, which City haven't had for a long time. A solid and confident City defence, can eventually be a platform for the midfield and attack to reach their highs better, when they are back up to speed. Here's hoping anyway.
